Tourism Malaysia announce winners at GTS lucky draw

After the second successfully concluded Gulf Travel Show 2021, Tourism Malaysia held the draw to select a total of 26 winners from media and travel agents that attended the event. Gulf Travel Show Day 2 promises new opportunities

The second edition of the Gulf Travel Show 2021 with Tourism Malaysia as diamond partner ended its first day with over 1,200 meetings and 800 visitors which included travel agents, tour operators, tourism boards, airlines, hotels, travel management companies, international agencies and media. Today, the final day of the show, promises to get bigger and better. San Jeet, Director, DDP group in his welcome message says, “Although this is a virtual show our aim remains the same of connecting people, building relationships and helping them grow their business. We also have 50 industry leaders who are sharing their views on the future trends and the new business model.” Some of the key highlights of the day included panel discussions with renowned personalities in the industry. Tourism Malaysia meets media from ME and India at GTS 2021

The inaugural virtual press conference was held on the opening day at the Gulf Travel Show 2021 conducted by Tourism Malaysia. It started off with the promotional video for Malaysia Truly Asia, which transported you virtually from pristine beaches to amazing nature getaways, cultural splendor at Sarawak village, street food and fine dining options, theme parks with the longest water slide, and the famous Petronas tower describing the breathtaking destination of Malaysia. Mohamed Lotfy – PR & Communications from Tourism Malaysia Dubai office welcomed the media and introduced the speakers for the press conference. Malaysia exhibits as diamond partner with 13 booths at GTS 2021

Tourism Malaysia pledged partnership for the second consecutive time at the second edition of the Gulf Travel Show on 31st March and 1st April 2021 as diamond partners. Tourism Malaysia will have its own pavilion with 13 booths consisting of Tourism Malaysia Dubai, Tourism Malaysia Jeddah, Tourism Malaysia India with 3 DMC/Tour Operator partners, and 7 hotels and resorts from different areas in the country. This platform will allow them to share the necessary precautions that they have implemented to ensure the safety of all travellers that will come when the borders open. Two days of collaboration between the travel trade on March 31st and April 1st 2021, once again promises a great line up of speakers with insightful sessions about the industry at the second edition of the Gulf Travel Show. Tourism Malaysia will be the diamond partner at the Gulf Travel Show 2021 with some of their key partners in their very own pavilion. Successfully concluded in 2020 with 40 plus exhibitors, 6000 one-to-one meetings, and 2,500 visitors from 59 countries which included travel agents, tour operators, tourism boards, airlines, hotels, travel management companies and international agencies encouraged the emergence of a second edition. Tourism Malaysia launches ‘Malaysia specialist certification programme’

Tourism Malaysia Dubai & Jeddah is launching  Malaysia Specialist Certified Programme (MSCP) to educate travel professionals on destination information to become certified Malaysia travel experts. Conducted by Malaysian destination experts from the state tourism boards of Penang, Melaka, Selangor, Sabah, Sarawak, and Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), the programme comprises a series of six webinars, spanning one hour per session from March 9 to 25, 2021, designed specifically for travel agents. The travel agents will go into deep dives on major attractions, local events, and tourist accommodation premises in Malaysia during webinars. Besides that, the MSCP will also be used to promote Sabah and Sarawak as the new destinations for Middle East travellers. Shahrin Mokhtar, Director of Tourism Malaysia – Dubai, stated, “The MSCP is expected to make a significant headway which will enable us to reach a higher number of travel agents in the Middle East.” Putra Hilmy Elias, Director of Tourism Malaysia – Jeddah, added, “This programme ensures that the travel agents have knowledge of Malaysia and also allows them to grow their businesses by leveraging on Malaysia’s diverse tourism offerings.” The MSCP is a part of Tourism Malaysia Dubai’s initiative born out of the COVID-19 pandemic besides the ‘#WeMissYou’ hashtag strategy to spur the readiness of travel professionals in the Middle East once Malaysia is reopened for business. Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board highlights latest visitor attractions at ATM 2019

Tourism Malaysia has outlined its ambitious plans for growth today during an event held at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2019 in Dubai. The organisation’s participation is designed to support the objectives of the Visit Malaysia 2020 initiative, which aims to attract more than 30 million tourists and around AED 89 billion in tourist receipts. More than 50 representatives from key stakeholders in Malaysia’s travel and hospitality sectors have travelled to the UAE for the event, where they showcased the latest news and updates on the country’s tourism offerings. The GCC remains a key market for inbound tourism to Malaysia, with total arrivals from West Asia standing at 315,733 during 2018, an increase of 25% on the previous year. The number of visitors from Saudi Arabia increased by 11.7%, while UAE travellers increased by 9.7%. Oman recorded the biggest rise in visitor numbers, at 36.9%. During the same period, visitors from the region contributed more than around AED 2.7 billion to Malaysia’s economy, with tourism receipts rising by 33% compared to 2017. Travellers from GCC countries also recorded the highest average expenditure per person, with visitors from Saudi Arabia spending around AED 10,300, United Arab Emirates around AED 8,300, Oman around AED 7,500, and Kuwait around AED 7,400.
