Special statement from Finnair to trade partners

Due to the unrest in Iran, Finnair is not using the Iranian airspace. This causes changes to the traffic plan between Helsinki and Dubai, and we need to cancel some of our flights to/from Dubai between February to April 2020. We are sorry for the inconvenience this situation has caused you and we are doing our best to minimise the effects on you. We are following the situation closely and will update you with new information as it gets available. The following flights will be cancelled between February 1 and March 29, 2020: Helsinki-Dubai at 20.40 (AY1969) (Thursday, Saturday, Sunday), except during the winter holiday season February 15 – February 28 flights will be operated with a fuel stop in Hurghada en route; Dubai-Helsinki at 06.05 (AY1970) (Monday, Friday, Sunday), except during the winter holiday season 15 February – 28 February flights will be operated with a fuel stop in Hurghada en route The following flights will be cancelled between March 29 and April 13, 2020: Helsinki-Dubai at 20.40 (AY1969) (Thursday, Sunday); Dubai-Helsinki at 06.05 (AY1970) (Monday, Friday). Dubai to host 3rd edition of Air Traffic Control Forum in June 2020

Glimpses into Air Traffic Control (ATC) modernisation and innovation will be provided to aviation industry stakeholders at the ATC Forum which is returning to Dubai for its third straight year in June 2020 during the record-setting Airport Show, the world’s largest annual airport industry gathering. The event is coming at a time when it has been predicted that more than half of the Top 20 biggest traffic flows will include Asia-Pacific, while four will come from the Middle East. Five of the 20 fastest growing traffic flows over the next two decades will also be in the MENA region. ATC Forum is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group. His Excellency Mohammed A. Dubai all set for a successful cruise season

Dubai has stepped up its drive to attract more cruise travellers to further strengthen its position as a leading ‘cruise hub of the region’. The upcoming 2019-2020 season is expected to welcome more than 200 ship calls and an estimated one million cruise visitors. The upcoming season will see an increased efforts to promote cruise tourism in the region by the Dubai Cruise Committee which is comprised of leading industry partners; Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), DP World UAE Region, operator of the Mina Rashid, Emirates Airlines, The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, and Dubai Customs. Dubai remains fourth most visited city in the world: Mastercard’s GDCI 2019

Dubai has retained its position as the fourth most visited city in the world for the fifth year in a row, according to Mastercard’s Global Destination Cities Index (GDCI) 2019.  The city welcomed 15.93 million international overnight visitors last year. The UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, was ranked as the fastest growing city in the Middle East and Africa, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 16.7 per cent between 2009 and 2018 in overnight arrivals. “As the most attractive destination in the Middle East and Africa region for international visitors, Dubai connects people from all over the world with a diverse range of offerings for leisure and business travellers alike. Dubai South to highlight key role of Dubai’s advanced connectivity in global trade

Emirates headed for busy travel weekend ahead of Eid break

Emirates anticipates a busy weekend ahead of the Eid holiday with heavy traveller volumes to and from Dubai. The busiest time for departures in Terminal 3 will be on May 31 with over 80,000 passengers travelling abroad. Customers are reminded to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight departure to avoid any delays. Peak travel is expected to continue until June 3, 2019 with over 309,000 Emirates passengers travelling from Dubai during this period of time. With expected traffic congestion around Terminal 3, and road works continuing to cause traffic delays around main airport highways and roads during this time – Emirates urges customers to build in extra time for their journeys to avoid potential delays. Passengers can physically check in at the airport as early as 24 hours before flight departure, and are requested to check in no later than two hours prior to departure, regardless of class of travel. Customers who check in less than 60 minutes prior to their scheduled flight departure will not be accepted for travel. Customers can also check in online on both their desktops and mobile devices from 48 hours to 90 minutes before flight departure. In addition to online check-in services, Emirates also offers convenient car park check-in facilities. Customers can use these to check in and drop off their luggage. Alternatively, customers heading to Emirates Terminal 3 can choose to drop their luggage at one of the 46 dedicated bag drop counters in Economy Class or separate counters in First Class and Business Class from six hours to 90 minutes prior to departure.
