Ajman Tourism prepares for the blessed month of Ramadan by training hotel chefs on popular and heritage dishes

The Department of Tourism Development in Ajman is introducing authentic Emirati culture and cuisine for an immersive experience for visitors by strategic partnerships with 4 and 5-star hotels in the Emirate of Ajman. This new step is part of the coordination between the concerned authorities to enhance the tourism scene and cultural interaction in the Emirate of Ajman, as well as to achieve the Department’s vision to support the sustainable development of the tourism sector.
These steps are in line with the Department’s strategic vision, which announces a special initiative entitled “Training Hotel Chefs to Prepare Emirati Popular and Traditional Dishes”. The aim of this initiative is to enhance the tourist experience by enriching their experience by tasting the authentic flavours of Emirati cuisine, in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan in 2024. Recognising the pivotal role culinary experiences play in attracting tourists, the department relied on the expertise of Emirati chef Khulood Ateeq.
H.E. Mahmoud Khalil Al Hashemi, Director General of Ajman Tourism Development Department, said: “Emirati cuisine is a cornerstone of our cultural heritage and we believe that by incorporating these authentic flavours into the tourism experience, we can create an immersive experience for visitors. Through this unique collaboration with prestigious hotel establishments and the expertise of our Emirati chefs, we are not only promoting Emirati culinary traditions, but also positioning Ajman as a culinary destination in its own right.”
Ms. Sarah Al Suwaidi, Head of Strategic Partner Relations, added: “This initiative is in line with the overall mission of Ajman Tourism Development not only to attract tourists to Ajman but also to provide them with unique and immersive experiences. Combining cultural richness with culinary excellence, Ajman is poised to establish itself as a must-visit destination for travellers seeking an authentic Emirati experience.”
The interactive courses, which will be held over two weeks at the Ajman Hotel , which in turn provide the appropriate environment for the implementation of this initiative to the fullest, will cover the application of main dishes and traditional and traditional sweets.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in preparing traditional Emirati dishes while being tasked with applying their new skills in the holy month of Ramadan.
Participants in the ‘Chef Training Emirati Traditional and Traditional Dishes’ initiative can look forward to an immersive learning experience with a carefully designed schedule. The Emirati main course sessions are scheduled to take place from 5 to 7 February 2024, providing chefs with in-depth insights into the preparation of traditional main courses. After the hands-on sessions, participants will engage in practical assignments from 8 to 9 February 2024 to enhance their new skills.
This will be followed by the Emirati Pastry and Bakery Course, which will take place from 12 to 13 February 2024, with a focus on the art of Emirati confectionery and bakery. Participants will then be assigned practical assignments from 14 to 15 February 2024, giving them an opportunity to showcase their proficiency in Emirati pastry and bakery techniques.
Chef Khulood Ateeq, a prominent figure in the Emirati culinary scene, will lead the team of chefs on a stunning journey to explore the complexities of Emirati gastronomy, offering a special and interesting look behind the scenes in carefully designed training courses, giving chefs a deep understanding of the origins and traditions that characterize Emirati cuisine.

This experience will be an opportunity to learn from culinary experts and explore the details of the art and culture that govern the preparation of Emirati food. By providing a comprehensive overview, chefs will learn about the unique elements of Emirati cooking, enriching their skills and enhancing their experience in the field.
The move is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at stimulating the tourism sector in Ajman, reinforcing its position as a distinguished tourist destination that combines cultural heritage with modern experiences. This joint cooperation between the concerned authorities reflects the dedication of the government sector to achieve the emirate’s vision to develop and promote the tourism sector in a sustainable and attractive manner.
