VOX Cinemas, the dedicated cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim, is excited to announce that its open-air movie experience OUTDOOR will return on Wednesday, 19 October. Located on the rooftop of Galleria Mall in Jumeirah 1, OUTDOOR is a wintertime favourite among Dubai cinemagoers to kick back, relax and enjoy the latest blockbusters under a canopy of stars. Guests can choose from single seats and bean bags to two-person VIP cabanas for the ultimate al fresco movie experience. OUTDOOR also offers an exclusive waiter service, so guests are treated to VOX Cinemas’ signature food and beverages from the comfort of their seats. Throughout the winter season from October 2022 till April 2023, OUTDOOR will be screening a must-see line-up of the most anticipated Hollywood titles including Black Adam and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as well as a slate of Halloween and Christmas titles and romantic movies. Majid Al Futtaim announced the launch of the region’s first cinema in the snow, which will allow guests to enjoy a hugely unique big screen experience in the desert surrounded by real snow. Snow Cinema is a collaboration between VOX Cinemas and Ski Dubai and is proudly supported by Dettol. From December 11 until the end of February, guests can snuggle up and get cosy while enjoying the magic of movies on the slopes of Ski Dubai. Get in the holiday spirit and meet Santa Claus in his grotto followed by a screening of a family-friendly festive favourite such as The Grinch, Frozen 2 or Daddy’s Home 2, which will be shown daily at 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm. There will also be a nightly screening of popular recent releases such as Knives Out and The Call of the Wild, as well as seasonal hits like Last Christmas. Majid Al Futtaim announced that VOX Cinemas are reopen in Abu Dhabi and Al Ainfrom Monday, August 17 in compliance with the recent ruling by the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi. In recent months, Majid Al Futtaim has reopened its leisure, entertainment and cinemas experiences across the Emirates including Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman. VOX Cinemas have undertaken extensive precautionary measures and put in place an all-encompassing sanitisation and physical distancing plan. During the temporary closures, Majid Al Futtaim also conducted extensive research to identify the top safety measures that would make guests feel comfortable about returning to its entertainment concepts and used the findings to proactively reimagine the guest experience. Cameron Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas and Majid Al Futtaim Leisure & Entertainment said, “Cinemas representing 48% of the global box office are now open, including China, which has the largest number of commercial cinema screens in the world, and we are excited about rebuilding the film industry with back-to-back blockbusters in the coming months. Etihad Airways and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi are taking Jeddah residents on an immersive tour of Abu Dhabi across VOX Cinemas using 3D projection mapping. This is the first time this technology is being utilised to promote a destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the wider Middle East region.  This month, projection mapping will turn VOX cinemas into a theatrical stage to provide viewers with a simulated first person experience of what it’s like flying with Etihad Airways to Abu Dhabi. Tim Burnell, Vice President Marketing, Etihad Airways, said, “Abu Dhabi is a dynamic capital with a wealth of exciting opportunities to offer to every type of traveller. We are delighted that today’s technology can showcase what our airline and capital has to offer, by bringing the experience to them, making them feel like they are actually here.” Viewers will board an Etihad aircraft and walk around the Business Cabin before being transported to world-famous leisure attractions including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and to Warner Bros. At World Abu Dhabi, famous cartoon and comic characters such as Bugs Bunny and Batman will interact with the audience. The journey continues to a mangrove forest, followed by miles of beautiful white sand beaches and a live cooking demonstration, before closing on Abu Dhabi’s rich skyline.
