PIA and Turkish Airlines expand code share

Turkish Airlines and Pakistan International Airlines have expanded their code-share cooperation, w.e.f from February 1, 2017. Inclusion of the new routes will enable both airlines a step into a new market while offering passengers various possibilities to travel. Turkish Airlines currently operates 7 frequencies each on the Istanbul – Karachi/Islamabad/Lahore vv. routes. The expanded code-share cooperation provides passengers with more feasible connections as well as seamless travel opportunities between and beyond destinations of Turkey and Pakistan. Pakistan International Airlines’ Jeddah and Madinah flights and as well as 8 domestic routes from Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore are appended to the renewed SPA in force since January 1st, 2017, which abled Turkish Airlines to reach Pakistan domestic destinations. The new SPA also involves Turkish Airlines’ all American destinations besides most of the European points. With the expansion of the existing code-share agreement, Pakistan International Airlines will be able to sell Turkish Airlines’ beyond Istanbul points of Atlanta, Johannesburg, Atina, Amsterdam, Tashkent, Moskova, Miami, Boston, Houston, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago with its own airline code and flight number in addition to the already existing cooperation on Istanbul – Karachi/ Islamabad/ Lahore vv. routes; while Turkish Airlines will market Pakistan International Airlines operating flights from Karachi and Islamabad to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat and from Lahore to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with its own airline code and flight number.

Turkish Airlines adds new route to its African network

Conakry (Republic of Guinea) will be the 296th destination across 120 countries currently being served by Turkish Airlines. The capital city of Republic of Guinea, Conakry will be joining the network on January 30 and become the 51st destination served in the continent. Roundtrip flights between Istanbul and Conakry will be operated 2 times per week on Mondays, and Thursdays in both directions. Introductory round trip fares are available from Istanbul to Conakry starting at $699 (including taxes and fees).  Additionally, for the first 6 months of operation to Conakry, Miles&Smiles members will be able to earn 25% extra status miles. Conakry flight times as scheduled from January 30 — TK 537 on Monday, Thursday at IST              12:30 and CKY by 19:35 with TK 537 on Monday, Thursday at CKY 20:30 and IST 08:40 +1.

Turkish adds Kharkiv, in Ukraine, to its network

Turkish Airlines will now add Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, to its extensive flight network from March 30, 2017. Kharkiv flights will be operated 4 times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and will increase to 7 times per week as of May 30th. Round trip fares are available from Istanbul to Kharkiv starting from $109 (including taxes and fees). Additionally, for the first six months of operation to the new destinations, there is a special offer for Miles&Smiles members, with a 25% reduction in the miles needed to redeem either award tickets or upgrades.

Turkish launches baggage transportation service — Mini Port

Mini Port is a daily passenger baggage transportation service between Taksim and Atatürk Airport . The passenger comes to the Mini Port Service Point and submits their flight information to the officials, the Miniport Service Officer welcomes the passengers and receives their baggage, The Mini Port officials comply with the transport procedures of baggage arriving by the vehicle of the transportation company. This occurs at scheduled times, three times a day to the Mini Port Office in AHL International Lines metro floor from Taksim Mini Port Office. The passenger who is travelling from Istanbul and receives his baggage from AHL Mini Port Office, delivers his baggage to the counters in check-in area as complying with normal flight check-in procedures and the service is offered from Airport to Taksim and from Taksim to Airport. The scope of services was expanded and within the cooperation with the contracted hotels in Taksim region, passenger baggages will be transported from these hotels to Atatürk Airport. Recently, Turkish Airlines presented new features including Denon Headphones to be added to its on-board entertainment services. Due to this recent in-flight innovation, Turkish Airlines’ business class travellers on extended route flights will have the possibility to experience a renewed audio experience without any cost. This brand new app has been created in accordance with the Off-Airport concept which is now very much preferred by modern airlines. Now passengers who have to check out early from their hotels would spend their day comfortably without carrying their baggages. Turkish Airlines flies direct to Zanzibar

Turkish Airlines has added Zanzibar to its network in Africa taking the total number of destinations to 293 worldwide and 50 in Africa. These include the east African city hubs of Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Djibouti, Asmara, Addis Ababa, Kigali, Entebbe and Zanzibar. The Zanzibar flights will be operated 3 times per week as Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in both directions. Introductory round trip fares are available from Istanbul to Zanzibar starting at $636  (including taxes and fees). Additionally, for the operations to Zanzibar –till 12th June 2017-, Miles&Smiles members will be able to earn 25% extra status miles. Turkish starts direct service to Seychelles

Seychelles becomes Turkish Airlines’ third island in the Vanilla Islands Group, with the addition of three weekly return flights to Mahé, Seychelles. Turkish Airlines has celebrated the addition of a tourist favourite, Seychelles, to its global route map with the airline’s inaugural flight landing at Mahé International Airport and opening up a world of 114 countries to passengers travelling from the land of perpetual summer. Flying directly from Mahé International Airport, the brand new service will connect passengers departing from Seychelles to 88 worldwide destinations including Paris, Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Milano, Bombay, Abu Dhabi, Vienna, Munich, Zurich, Rome, Moscow, Dusseldorf, Colombo and Hong Kong. The flight is already available for booking at www.turkishairlines.com. This service brings the total number of destinations the airline flies to in Africa to 42, as it keeps its status as the carrier that flies to more countries and international destinations than any other airline by serving its services to 114 countries across Europe, Russia, Central Asia, Far East Asia, the Middle East, Africa, North and South America. The inaugural flight from Istanbul got a water cannon salute at Mahe International airport at a ceremony graced by Ahmet Olmuştur, Chief Marketing Officer of Turkish Airlines;  Alain St. Ange, Minister for Tourism and Culture of the Republic of Seychelles; and  Joel Morgan, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport of the Republic of Seychelles, in the presence of diplomatic, protocol and media representatives as well as Turkish Airlines’ officials.

Turkish Airlines has unveiled its new mobile application. Users can now buy tickets, make reservations and check in, manage Miles&Smiles account and follow departure-arrival status via the recent application. All processes can be done quickly under favor of the simple and easy to use design. It is now possible to add passengers, display the latest airport searches, and gain time by choosing favorite airports. Also the flights can be reserved easier due to the interactive map. The promotions which provide new discoveries via Turkish Airlines can be reached at any place and any time. The new functionalities of the mobile application allow passengers to change tickets, make cancellations, add infants, and add flights directly. The application includes the terminal maps in order to make mobile users find their desired location. Also the mobile application users will have ability to buy emergency row seats to have a more comfortable journey. Also it is now possible to upgrade Economy tickets to Business via new update. Turkish Airlines’ updated mobile application can be downloaded on AppStore and also Google Play to all mobile devices.

Code share by Air Europa and Turkish Airlines

Air Europa and Turkish Airlines have jointly announced the start of a code-sharing partnership effective as of October 1, 2016 that enables both carriers to tap into new markets and offer their passengers more travel options. At the initial stage of their cooperation Air Europa will place its marketing code on Istanbul-Madrid v.v. route operated by Turkish Airlines while Turkish Airlines will place its marketing code on Madrid – Las Palmas/Ibiza/Palma de Mallorca v.v. and Madrid – Havana/Santo Domingo/Lima v.v. flights operated by Air Europa. Such an expansion of the codeshare agreement will allow passengers to benefit from better connectivity and increased travel flexibility between Spain and Turkey and beyond the carriers’ respective networks. Turkish Airlines connects 242 international destinations with Istanbul, which is the only city in the world having settled on two continents, and serving as the main hub of the global carrier. Turkish Airlines launches flights to Seychelles

Seychelles becomes Turkish Airlines’ third Island in the Vanilla Islands Group, with the addition of three weekly return flights to Mahe, Seychelles. Already flying to 48 destinations in Africa, Turkish Airlines will increase its flight network by adding Seychelles as another destination in the continent, bringing the total number of destinations that Europe’s best airline serves to 243 worldwide, and 49 in Africa. With the addition of Seychelles, Turkish Airlines, the airline that flies to more countries than any other airline by serving 117 countries will promise a great experience for users of the new route from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with a one stop in Istanbul, Turkey. Three weekly flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the passengers will depart from Istanbul at 01:05 on board TK748 arriving at 10:55, with a return service on TK749 departing from Seychelles at 12:25 to arrive in Istanbul at 18:10 on the same days.

Turkish Airlines’ debut flight to Erbil, Iraq

Turkish Airlines has inaugurated its direct Erbil, Iraq flights which will be operated from and to Gaziantep Airport. Beginning from August 5th, roundtrip flights between Gaziantep and Erbil will be operated 2 times per week in both directions.
