The first session will begin by 11am and end by 12 noon with three key speakers in the Middle East region; HE Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), Raki Philips – Chief Executive Officer Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and Suman Billa – Director Technical Corporation and Silk Road Development UNWTO. As the UAE has open to international visitors, this is the perfect opportunity to find out the many efforts undertaken by the relevant tourism boards and the UNWTO. The second session will commence after a 15 minute break at 12.15pm and end by 1.15pm; this session will take into account outbound travel with three key national tourism boards with the most number of visitors from the UAE and GCC region. Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) welcomed Pegasus’ inaugural flights from Instanbul to Ras Al Khaimah on November 28. The flight departed from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) on November 27 at 9:50 pm and arrived at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT) at 3:20 am on November 28. The arrival of the first flight was celebrated with a water cannon salute for the aircraft and a special cake cutting ceremony attended by key figures in the aviation industry, including representatives from RAK Civil Aviation, RAK Airport, RAKTDA and Pegasus. H.E. Engr. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah Executive Council shared, “We are proud to announce the new route between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) announced record-breaking visitor numbers to Ras Al Khaimah in August 2019, with almost 118,000 visitors choosing the UAE’s northernmost Emirate to visit and enjoy its fascinating history, traditional culture, magnificent landscapes and world-class hotels and resorts. The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has witnessed a 5 per cent growth in overall visitor arrivals YTD, with the peak reaching 117,995 visitors in August 2019. Reports also revealed an 8.4 per cent increase in domestic visitor arrivals which indicates a rise in the Emirate’s popularity as a preferred staycation destination amongst UAE residents. As for international markets, Poland, Russia, India, Kazakhstan and Czech Republic have significantly contributed to the record-breaking number of visitors recorded MTD August 2019 with growth percentages of 26.6 per cent, 25.3 per cent, 13.7 per cent, 9 per cent and 8.3 per cent respectively.
