Qatar records 702,800 visitors in 2024

In January 2024, Qatar recorded the reception of 702,800 visitors, marking the highest monthly level of visitor entries ever. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries took the lead in terms of the total number of visitors, accounting for 53% of the overall visitor count. These numbers coincide with the significant event at the beginning of the year, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™️. Qatar presents a diverse tourism scene that blends cultural heritage with modernity and development. The country offers visitors various experiences catering to all tastes, from cultural exploration to sports and adventure, as well as artistic exhibitions and educational conferences.

Qatar Tourism launches Qatar Tourism Ambassadors programme to enhance communication with change leaders and activate community engagement

Qatar Tourism launched its new programme, titled ‘Qatar Tourism Ambassadors’, to celebrate local community leaders and provide a platform for entrepreneurs, artists and promising talents in Qatar to share their journeys and experiences with Qatar Tourism representatives, and share views on ways to collaborate on various initiatives undertaken by Qatar Tourism, as part of its efforts to raise awareness among citizens and visitors about the latest developments in the tourism sector and its tourism initiatives and services. Under the theme ‘The Right Arm’, the opening session of the programme was held at Feh Al Afia Restaurant in Katara Cultural Village, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, President of Qatar Tourism. The session was attended by editors-in-chief of Qatari newspapers, directors of local television channels, senior journalists and media professionals in Qatar, as well as a group of social media influencers. The welcome meeting was held at Fitah Al Afia Restaurant in Katara Cultural Village, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, President of Qatar Tourism. Qatar welcomes four million visitors, highest level of visitors in five years

Qatar has recorded four million visitors, surpassing the annual number of visitors over the past five years. Qatar Tourism has revealed a significant increase in visitor numbers to Qatar, reflecting the positive momentum of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ™, in conjunction with the country’s ongoing efforts and initiatives to advance the tourism sector. Earlier, Qatar announced the continuity of the work of the “Hayya” platform to standardize and tse visa procedures for visitors coming to Qatar. These efforts are complemented by easy travel policies that allow citizens of 95 countries around the world to obtain an instant visa upon arrival in Qatar.Qatar’s events and roadshows throughout the year have contributed significantly to a steady increase in the number of tourists. Qatar welcomes Norwegian Dawn, marking cruise ship’s regional debut

The Norwegian Dawn cruise ship arrived at Doha Port with a ceremony by Qatar Tourism, as part of the 2023/24 cruise season that opened in late-October in Qatar. The welcome ceremony featured a traditional Ardah performance, henna, dhow souvenirs, Arabic calligraphy art, sadu weaving, and net making for disembarking passengers. The cruise ship can accommodate up to 2,340 passengers, and has an operating crew of 1, 032 members. It will be anchored for two nights, allowing passengers to explore nearby sites in Doha which include the Mina District, Souq Waqif, National Museum of Qatar, and more. Speaking on the arrival of the cruise ship, His Excellency, Mr. Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, stated, “The pioneering arrival of the Norwegian Dawn and its regional debut is a significant milestone for Qatar’s growing cruise tourism sector and marks Qatar’s international appeal as a cruise destination. Qatar Tourism signs MoU with Mowasalat Karwa to enhance tourism experiences of cruise visitors

Qatar Tourism has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mowasalat Karwa to innovate and enhance the tourism experience for visitors coming to Qatar via cruises. The MoU aims to enhance coordination and cooperation between the two parties in the field of cruise tourism, which in turn is an integral part of the National Tourism Strategy that seeks to make Qatar one of the leading tourist destinations in the world. The MoU outlines the joint cooperation between the two organizations to maintain the continuity of communication with transparency, optimize cost, and provide the necessary support for the success of the upcoming cruise season. Qatar Tourism will provide Mowasalat Karwa with data and statistics related to the tourism sector to facilitate their cooperation, and will send advance notice of the arrival times of ships and cruise ships, enabling effective planning of transport services. The MoU was signed by H.E. Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, President of Qatar Tourism, and Mr. Fahad Saad Al Qahtani, CEO of Mowasalat Karwa. H.E. It was announced that the Qatari government has appointed a new chairman for its tourism arm. HE Saad bin Ali bin Saad Al Kharji has been officially appointed as the new Chairman of Qatar Tourism.  According to QNA,  HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued the Amiri Decision No. 85 of 2023, appointing HE Saad bin Ali bin Saad Al Kharji as Chairman of Qatar Tourism. Qatar Tourism launches new training course titled “Beach Expert” as part of its Medyaf Qatar programme

As part of its successful ‘Hospitality Qatar’ programme, the country’s first national tourism training programme, Qatar Tourism has launched a new ‘Beach Expert’ training course, which aims to provide beachfarers who come directly to visitors with the expertise needed to visit Qatar’s growing beaches, desert camps, hotels and resorts with beach views and open beaches that are frequented by many in Doha and beyond. The course, which allows applicants to choose the times that suit them, is available in Arabic and English and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate from Qatar Tourism stating that they have acquired the necessary knowledge and experience regarding the latest information about Qatar’s pristine beaches. Commenting on the new Beach Expert course, Ms. Moza Al Maadadi from Qatar Tourism said : “Qatar has beautiful coastlines and crystal clear waters that are admired by residents and many of our international visitors. The Beach Expert course is an opportunity to highlight the refreshing atmosphere that Qatar offers to its visitors, such as the bright sun, clear sea water and soft sand, especially as new beaches are being developed and included in Qatar’s growing hospitality offerings. West Bay Beach becomes Doha’s first beach to create a ramp to enhance accessibility

West Bay Beach has become the first beach in Doha to create a ramp to enhance accessibility for individuals with mobility disabilities, as the ramp, designed in collaboration with mobility experts, allows individuals using wheelchairs to easily navigate through the sandy ground and access the beachfront. The initiative is part of West Bay Beach’s ‘Inclusiveness at West Bay Beach: Breaking Barriers, Embracing Everyone’ campaign to provide an encouraging and inclusive environment for all visitors by removing physical barriers that limit accessibility. The addition of an access ramp enhances the possibility of fully enjoying the beach atmosphere by these individuals regardless of their physical abilities. Qatar Tourism selects Qatari Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim as brand ambassador

Qatar Tourism  announced that Olympic and world champion Mutaz Barshim has been named its new brand ambassador, with Barshim, the only high jumper to recently set a record of five medals at the World Championships, being the new face of Qatar Tourism’s promotional campaigns between now and September 2024. Qatar achieves a 157% increase in the number of international visitors

Qatar welcomed more than 2.56 million visitors from January to 25 August 2023, surpassing the total number of visitors for the whole of 2022, marking a 157% increase in the number of international visitors compared to the same period last year. This significant increase in the number of visitors to Qatar reflects the country’s growing position as a leading tourist destination in the world, supported by the success achieved following the successful hosting of the FIFA  World Cup Qatar 2022™, which put Qatar on the international tourism map. The tourism sector has received a boost thanks to the extension of the validity of the Hayya Card to its existing holders and the relaunch of the Haya platform to become a unified visa portal for visitors coming to Qatar, as the country welcomed visitors from all over the world, with visitors from Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, the United States of America, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan topping the list of countries for visitors coming to Qatar.
