SAUDI and Kenya Airways signs codeshare agreement

Saudia signed an agreement with Kenya Airways to expand the connectivity of both airlines and maximize benefits for their guests. The agreement incorporates a wide-range of benefits, including booking and ticket issuance, as well as seamless transfers between flights with a single ticket. Guests will also be able to check-in their luggage to their destination and benefit from a reciprocal rewards program that enhances and rewards guests. Guests can also benefit from transit visas that can be issued through Saudia’s digital channels in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs allowing them to stopover for up to 96 hours. The agreement will allow guests to easily reach different regions of the Kingdom to enjoy the climatic diversity, as well as the variety of activities and events that highlight the Kingdom’s historical heritage and legacy, as well as to perform the Umrah and Hajj, and visit the Holy sites. Additionally, guests will be able to reach new destinations such as Accra in Ghana, Bamako in Mali, Bujumbura in Burundi, Lusaka in Zambia and Mombasa in Kenya, among others. The agreement was signed by Saudia’s Chief Commercial Officer Arved Von Zur Muehlen and Kenya Airways’ Regional General Manager- India & Middle East, Albert Abwoga. Saudia is committed activate codeshare agreements as one way to achieving its objective to connect the world to the Kingdom, coupled with qualitative initiatives to enhance the travel experience through both ground and air services and products, in addition to aligning with the initiatives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy by increasing air connectivity to more than 250 destinations by 2030, and keeping pace with the targets of the Saudi Ministry of Tourism of reaching 150 million visits …

Emirates and Kenya Airways enter interline partnership to offer more travel options between Africa and the Middle East

Emirates and Kenya Airways (KQ) have announced an interline partnership that will allow customers of both airlines access to new destinations on the two airlines’ networks within a single itinerary. The agreement will provide customers with increased travel options as well as seamless baggage check-in to their final destination. Emirates customers will now be able to fly to 28 destinations on the Kenya Airways network using Nairobi as the gateway to destinations such as Nampula, Bangui, Bujumbara, Kigali, Dzaoudzi, Lubumbashi, Kinshasa, Kilimanjaro, Juba, Zanzibar, among many other regional points across Africa. Additionally, as part of a bilateral interline arrangement, Emirates passengers travelling via Dubai can also book a single ticket itinerary from or to Mombasa, one of the most popular leisure destinations in Kenya. Similarly, Kenya Airways passengers travelling from Nairobi and Mombasa will now be able to access the Emirates’ network and seamlessly connect through Dubai to 23 destinations across West and South Asia, the Far East, the Indian Ocean and Middle East such as Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, Ahmedabad, Beirut, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Seoul among others. Kenya Airways flags-off maiden flight from Mombasa to Dubai

Kenya Airways (KQ) has made its maiden non-stop flight to Dubai International Airport from Mombasa, Kenya.  The flight from Moi International Airport marked the second hub, other than its Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, that the carrier connects passengers directly to the UAE. Operated by a Boeing 737-800 with registration number KQ306 aircraft, the flight carrying 145 passengers was flagged off by His Excellency Rigathi Gachagua, the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya in the presence of Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Hon. Penina Malonza – Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Wildlife and Heritage, H.E. Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir – Governor of Mombasa County, Mr Alex Gitari – Managing Director – Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), John Chirchir – Ag. CEO, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) among other key stakeholders. “Kenya’s air transport has what it takes to drive the economy. From exports of cargo to our renown agricultural produce, to our magnificent touristic attractions. DXB adds a new African destination with the launch of Kenya Airways’ flights from Mombasa

Dubai International (DXB) added a new African destination to its network of 200 plus international destinations on Friday with the launch of Kenya Airways’ inaugural service from the coastal city of Mombasa. Kenya Airways will be operating four weekly flights between Mombasa and DXB’s Terminal 1 on a B737-800 aircraft, increasing the carrier’s frequency to Dubai to 14 round trips a week. The airline already operates 10 weekly flights to Nairobi and will be adding 4 weekly flights to Mombasa, which was an unserved destination at DXB. The new service is expected to enhance tourism and trade on both sides and offer additional options for the thousands of travellers who fly between Dubai and Kenya each month. Nearly 650,000 passengers flew between DXB and Kenyan destinations in 2019.

Oman Air and Kenya Airways on code share

Oman Air has implemented a code share agreement with Kenya Airways (KQ) covering services between Muscat and Nairobi. The new partnership will allow seamless connectivity to Kenya Airways customers in accessing Muscat directly from Nairobi. Oman Air launched its flights to Nairobi in March this year. On the Nairobi – Muscat route, KQ will place its code share flight numbers on the Oman Air flights operating on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Through this partnership, Kenya Airways extends its services to tourists as well as to those who are visiting friends and families, in Oman – through the cultural links that Oman shares with the coastal parts of East Africa – especially Kenya and Tanzania. Commenting on the new code share agreement, Paul Gregorowitsch, CEO, Oman Air, said, “Oman Air is very happy with the implementation of this code share agreement with Kenya Airways. Through this partnership, Oman Air extends its exemplary services to guests of Kenya Airways. Etihad code shares with kulula.com

The national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways has signed a new code-share agreement with kulula, the award-winning low-cost carrier from South Africa. The code-share deal offers Etihad Airways customers flight options to a number of key cities in South Africa that include Cape Town, Durban, George and East London via Johannesburg. Etihad Airways will place its EY code on kulula’s scheduled flights between Johannesburg and these popular coastal cities. This agreement allows guests access to through-check-in and baggage transfer to their final destination. The new code-share services went on sale from October 3, 2016, with travel from the start of the Northern Winter schedule on 30 October. The agreement with kulula strengthens Etihad Airways’ commitment to Africa and brings the total number of destinations that it serves across the continent to 23 through its existing code-share partnerships with Kenya Airways, Royal Air Maroc, and strategic equity partner Air Seychelles. Etihad Airways currently operates scheduled services to 10 destinations in Africa, namely Johannesburg, Nairobi, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam, Khartoum, Casablanca, Rabat, Lagos, Cairo and Mahé in the Seychelles.
