As part of the continuous efforts to expand its network of destinations and develop its services to the highest levels of quality, Kuwait Airways announced the launch of its first scheduled commercial flights to Izmir, in the Republic of Turkey, with two flights a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. This coincided with the launch of the first scheduled commercial flight to the city of Mykonos, in the Republic of Greece, with two flights per week on Mondays and Wednesdays, both commencing from 6th June 2022. The Director of Corporate Communication and Public Relations at Kuwait Airways, Mr. Khalid Al-Bustan, expressed his happiness on this important launch, which is in response to the significant and growing requirements of customers in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf region. He pointed out that Kuwait Airways had recently launched operations to Casablanca, Manchester, Sohag, Alexandria, Sharm El-Sheikh, Trabzon and Bodrum, which will be followed shortly by operations to destinations such as Nice in France, Madrid and Malaga in Spain, Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman, Sarajevo in Bosnia, and Vienna in Austria. This is also in addition to commencing operations to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Kathmandu, Nepal in the coming months. flydubai is to  launch flights to Izmir in Turkey starting from 26 June with a three-times weekly service. Flights to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) will operate from Terminal 2 at Dubai International (DXB) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. With the start of flights to Izmir, flydubai’s network in Turkey will grow to four points including Ankara (ESB), Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) and Istanbul Airport (IST). flydubai will also operate summer seasonal routes to Bodrum (BJV) and Trabzon (TZX) frpm 23 June to offer passengers more options to travel this summer. Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said: “we are pleased to see our network in Turkey further grow with the start of flights to Izmir. During the busy summer period, we will operate 24 flights a week to Turkey, providing passengers with more opportunities to experience different cities in the country whether they are travelling for a city break or beach holiday. Kuwait Airways announced the operation of three new summer destinations to the Republic of Turkey. The Company will launch its scheduled commercial flights to Trabzon with three flights per week on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, commencing from 28th April 2022. This is followed by launching three flights per week to Bodrum on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, starting from 30th April 2022. KAC will also be launching two flights to Izmir on Mondays and Wednesdays, commencing from 5th June 2022. In this regard, the Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Maen Razouqi stated, “Kuwait Airways is in preparation to launch operations for the summer season of 2022 with numerous new destinations for the summer and is proceeding according to its planned objectives to expand its network of operations around the world. We are expecting significant recovery for this season in particular and in the progress of travel, followed by the growth of the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors and the commercial air transport in general.” Razouqi added, “Kuwait Airways’ focus on launching new destinations to Turkey came as a result of increasing demand from our valued customers, especially in the summer, along with the feasibility and benefit of these destinations for the Company. Therefore, the Blue Bird will operate to five destinations in the Republic of Turkey, consisting of Sabiha, Istanbul, Trabzon, Bodrum and Izmir.” Razouqi concluded and said, “Kuwait Airways is relentlessly striving to assist its customers and provide them with all means of comfort during their travel, from the check-in at Terminal 4, until they board the National Carrier’s latest aircraft, in addition to receiving comfortable and distinguished services and reaching their destination safely.”  

Air Arabia will add two flights per week to Izmir making it the fifth destination in Turkey from June 27, 2018. It will become the first airline to connect UAE and Izmir with a direct flight. Izmir joins Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum and Trabzon as the carrier’s fifth destination in the country. The flight will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, departing Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) at 21:05 hours, and arriving the next day at Izmir’s Adnan Menderes International Airport (ADB) at 00:50 hours local time. The return flight will depart Izmir at 01:30 hours, landing in Sharjah at 06:50 hours local time.
