Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) has provided a positive outlook of the industry to leading stakeholders and partners at its first biannual city briefing event, highlighting the sector’s performance across key markets, and sharing first-hand insights into major developments, marketing initiatives and future growth strategies. Led by His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of Dubai Tourism, the city briefing held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City last week comes within the framework of regular industry engagements initiated by the Department to further enhance collaboration with its stakeholders. The event was attended by nearly 1,000 managers and key executives representing all industry segments, from hospitality to tour operators, tourism attractions to destination management companies, as well as top officials from Dubai Police and Expo 2020 Dubai. Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) launched a new sponsorship scheme to drive continued innovation and sustainability across Dubai’s events industry. Reaffirming Dubai’s position as a global events hub, the scheme is designed to further empower leisure event organisers with additional incentivisation opportunities in the form of event sponsorship. The new process will build on the growth and competitiveness of the city’s event sector, which recorded an increase of over 100,000 ticket sales and 25 additional events in the first quarter of 2019 when compared to the same period last year. Continuing to effectively showcase Dubai’s proposition as a host city for international events from around the world, the scheme will target entertainment events and will be applicable for events that are ticketed and open to the public, with an eligible leisure event permit. With state-of-the-art venues across the city, Dubai is well placed to compete on the global stage to host international events, as it continues to grow its reputation as a world leading leisure and entertainment destination. The scheme will work in conjunction with the department’s ticketing and permits services to streamline management and coordination of event licensing activities and provide greater operational efficiency. Read More »First Spring Tourism Camp kicks off in April
The Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), an institution established by Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), has announced the launch of its Spring Tourism Camp programme, offering a unique introduction to the courses available at the college across its five core disciplines; Tourism, Retail, Culinary, Arts, Events and Hospitality. The camp will combine learning with entertainment to introduce Dubai as a world-class tourism and cultural destination, giving students an opportunity to experience first-hand the emirate’s diverse destination offerings. Blending classroom activities and hands-on learning with fun and educational outings including site visits to some of the city’s well-known tourist attractions, the camp will give participants an insight into the courses offered at DCT. Each day of the five-day programme will feature lessons and activities dedicated to each of the courses offered, giving them a preview into what they could learn as a DCT student. Dubai Tourism continued to expand its reach across Japan targeting segmented demographics through strategic activations, marketing campaigns and ongoing trade and business partnerships with key industry players. In order to drive awareness and consideration around Dubai as a holiday destination among Japan’s target market, the department identified women and senior citizens as key drivers in the travel and tourism space. Furthermore, building on the city’s commitment to ensure ease of accessibility, Japanese visitors benefit from daily flights from Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda and Kansai International Airport in Osaka. Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai’s Corporation of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) said, “2018 saw sustained growth from the Japanese market as we welcomed more than 100,000 overnight visitors a year for the very first time.” Working to deliver an enhanced travel experience for Japanese visitors to the emirate, Dubai Tourism has partnered with H.I.S., a market leading travel agency in Japan to provide easy access to Dubai’s travel products and information though sales and retail promotions across major Japanese cities.
