Leading multi-service app in the region, Careem, has announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) to explore opportunities for collaboration and introduce exceptional offerings, exclusive packages, and special discounts that boost the overall tourism experience. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an “e-hail” taxi joint venture with Careem Networks recently at a press conference held under the patronage of His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer; Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA; Mudassir Sheikha, Co- founder and CEO, Careem, along with other senior officials and CEOs from the RTA and senior executives of Careem. HE Al Tayer stated that this partnership was the first in the world between a government transport authority and the private sector. “This initiative stems from RTA’s keenness to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, the UAE and Ruler, Dubai, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world. It also aims to bring happiness to people, deliver classy services to tourists and enrich customer’s experience. This partnership is the first-of-its-kind worldwide between a government transport authority and a private entity specialised in taxi e-hail business. “Through this new company, the RTA intends to leverage the taxi sector in Dubai. It involves raising the efficiency of taxis in Dubai through enhanced accessibility of vehicles and their online booking and reducing the expected waiting time for the vehicle. Careem has introduced its GoPlus car type in Ajman. Cars in Ajman will be Lexus and will appear in the app as a “GoPlus” car type. Prices will start at AED 7 for instant bookings and the minimum fare is AED 19.  Knowing that many people will be using Careem for specific commutes from Ajman, Careem has introduced a set pricing model where customers can enjoy fixed fare price such as trips from Ajman City Centre to Dubai International Airport, Sharjah International Airport, Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates. Launched in 2012 in Dubai, Careem is now live in some 82 cities across 12 countries in the broader Middle East including North Africa, Turkey and Pakistan. The Sizzling Summer app, which helps users to find deals and offers at Meraas destinations quickly and easily, is soon going to collaborate with Careem to provide its customers an enhanced experience. Customers will now be able to see the estimated time of arrival of their closest Careem and also the approximate journey time. Careem, the region’s leading ride hailing app, has revealed that users of the Sizzling Summer app can now book a ride directly through the app, using a new feature designed to make it easier to redeem hundreds of summertime offers at various destinations in Dubai. With new deals being added all the way until the end of September, there is no shortage of promotions at the participating outlets at Meraas’ destinations: City Walk, The Beach, Boxpark, Last Exit, The Outlet Village, Kite Beach and Jumeirah Bay. The seasonal promotion will encompass a variety of offerings from Galeries Lafayette, Valiant Clinic and Nikki Beach to The Green Planet, Leopold’s of London and Qasr Al Sultan, allowing people to eat, shop and relax for less this summer. The Sizzling Summer app will be free to download for iOS and Android via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

AirWayBill, the peer-to-peer shipping platform, has partnered with Careem, the region’s favourite car-booking app to be its official transportation partner in the Middle East and support carriers in getting their items to recipients, quickly and more efficiently. Users can avail of up to $15 off their rides from the airport when they’re connected through both apps. AirWayBill will send the promo codes of Careem to buyers and carriers whenever they have a shipment in process as a bonus to their agreement. Careem, the region’s leading ride hailing app, has introduced KM Packages for regular Abu Dhabi customers so that they can benefit from discounted rates and manage their monthly budget on rides. When opting to pre-pay for KM bundles, a customer can save up to 20% a month. Paying this way also removes peak pricing for all trips taken using the KM Packages. Packages are available to buy in 50km, 75km, 100km, 150km, 200km and 300km bundles. To help estimate the monthly KMs that someone might need, an in-app calculator has been created which prompts customers to enter the regular routes they take and how often. The app also allows a customer to set up a repeat booking to avoid having to manually book the same route every time.

Careem, the Middle East’s ride-hailing app, has confirmed that its “Ride Now” booking service will be available again in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Careem users will be able to book on-demand rides through the app, with a new service called “Careem Limo”. This service offering will be operated under the regulations for limo services in Abu Dhabi, making Careem the only ride-hailing app service in the city, said a statement from the company. On launching the new Careem Limo service, Aura Lunde, general manager of Careem UAE, said: “Abu Dhabi is a special market for Careem- being home to many of our team members as well as being the second ever city launched when we first started out in 2012. Our mission is to simplify and improve the lives of people. Car booking app CAREEM has announced its partnership with Etisalat as it launches its new payment platform – CAREEM Wallet – for booking car rides. CAREEM Wallet allows the company’s customers to pay for car rides using Etisalat’s Reward points or choose to earn Etisalat Reward points as they use CAREEM services. Etisalat, the leading telecoms operator in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, is the first partner to integrate into the ‘CAREEM Wallet’. The announcement is the first of its kind in a series of several partnerships which the car hailing booking app is currently working on to integrate into its new platform.
