Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau (ADCB), in collaboration with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), hosted the fourth edition of the Middle East International Forum at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas on Saadiyat Island. The opening of the forum saw a welcome speech from Mubarak Al Shamsi, ADCB Director and ICCA Middle East Chapter Chair, where he welcomed the opportunity to host some of the region’s key players to showcase the importance of collaboration, sustainable development and best practices. “Meetings and exhibitions have contributed tremendously to the growth and development of Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the region as a whole,” said Al Shamsi. “This year’s edition has seen discussion from different perspectives and we are now exploring developments and benefits as a result of hosting these conventions. We are also exploring the role bureaus are currently playing for event organisers and local communities, in addition to changes in the market and the constant need for venues to adapt in order to be successful.” Mahir Julfar, ICCA Board Member and SVP Venues Manager at the Dubai World Trade Center, added, “At the ICCA we have an incredibly active and knowledgeable community. Our members are strong advocates for the development of the meetings industry in the region. Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, a division of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have teamed up to win bids to host four leading international conferences in Abu Dhabi – all of them being held in the Middle East region for the first time. These wins, for the World Congress of Nephrology, the Annual Conference of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Congress, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Africa, Europe, Middle East Global Conference, and the XIV World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WAPR) World Congress – will contribute to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a global health and education hub. Securing these significant conferences will also support the Abu Dhabi government in its efforts to further develop these sectors, which have been identified as key development areas in the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 roadmap for the future. Read More »Abu Dhabi to promote MiCE in ‘The Meetings Show” in London
A delegation led by the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau (ADCB) will attend The Meetings Show – the event for the inbound and outbound meetings and event industry in the UK – in London on 27th and 28th June 2018, to raise awareness of the emirate as a world-class events, incentive and exhibition hub. The delegation will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with more than 2,300 key buyers on the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau stand over the course of the two days, with the show expected to welcome over 4,800 meetings and events professionals. The UK is the leading European source market and the third largest overseas market for Abu Dhabi, having seen a rise of 13 per cent in UK visitors during 2017, where numbers reached 270,000. Figures for 2018 are looking healthy, with the first four months of the year registering a 13.7 per cent increase compared to 2017. This visit will be the fifth time the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau has participated in The Meetings Show, which each year generates countless event enquiries and exhibition leads for Abu Dhabi. “Each year we see great results from attending The Meetings Show in London, so we are very pleased to bring our 14 stakeholders to the show this year,’ said Sara Abdullah Al Aslai, the Conferences & Exhibitions Unit Head. “The UK market is an incredibly important one for us, with many leading British companies holding events and incentives in Abu Dhabi.
