The importance of the unified tourist visa for the GCC countries, which is scheduled to come into force at the end of this year, and its role in contributing to supporting the process of sustainable and comprehensive economic development, was highlighted at the Regional Committee for the Middle East of the United Nations Tourism Organisation in Qatar. The meeting included constructive discussions on tourism investments and means of financing, by stressing that Qatar is characterized by having an attractive investment environment for local and foreign investors, thanks to economic stability capable of withstanding challenges and achieving growth in GDP. Qatar has seen the establishment of more than 800 new businesses and the implementation of 135 FDI projects with a total value of $29.78 billion. In addition, Qatar Tourism is keen to achieve service excellence in all aspects of the tourism sector through close cooperation with public and private sector institutions in the country, which contributed to providing an attractive and exceptional experience for visitors.
Qatar Tourism, chaired by HE President of Qatar Tourism Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, is participating in the fiftieth meeting of the Regional Committee for the Middle East of the United Nations Tourism Organization, which was held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, and will continue until the 24th of this month. At the end of the meeting yesterday, it was announced that Qatar will host the next meeting of the Committee in its fifty-first edition. The selection of Doha to host the next meeting is an affirmation of Qatar’s role as a regional and global hub in cultural, economic and political exchange, thus enhancing cooperation between countries and contributing to the development of international relations, thus supporting the contribution of the tourism sector to the process of sustainable economic development among the participating countries.

Zurab Pololikashvili, where discussions revolved around the launch of the second edition of the Qatar Tourism Awards in partnership with the United Nations Tourism Organization to honor those who contributed to bringing the visitor experience to a high level of service excellence, in addition to discussing ways of cooperation in the field of developing innovative ideas in the field of tourism in line with the strategy of digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence. During the meeting, the President of Qatar Tourism affirmed that the State of Qatar welcomes the participation of its experience in launching the Haya platform, when It has a prominent role in promoting the tourism industryat the local and regional levels.
The fiftieth meeting of the Regional Committee for the Middle East of the United Nations Tourism Organization acquires special importance by addressing regional initiatives that work to enhance cooperation and integration in the field of tourism among the countries participating in the meeting at the Arab and regional levels, building on their common factors and benefiting from the successes achieved over the past years.
Tomorrow, a panel discussion will be held on the sidelines of the conference entitled “Stimulating Tourism Investment through Partnerships” and the Qatar Tourism delegation will discuss a number of vital issues by highlighting partnerships across sectors and various government agencies, most notably the cooperation between Qatar Tourism and the Ministry of Interior through the launch of the “Hayya” platform, which is concerned with facilitating entry to the country, which enhances the tourism experience in Qatar. The session will also focus on cooperation between Qatar Tourism and other sectors to attract investment and enhance tourism offerings in the country. It will outline future plans to maintain the growth momentum in Qatar’s tourism sector, especially after hosting major events and tournaments such as the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
