DUKES Dubai apartments on show at Cityscapes Global

Dubai-based luxury property developer Seven Tides returns to Cityscape Global, which takes place from September 6-8, 2016, at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre (DICEC), with an update on construction of the newest addition to its luxury hospitality and residential portfolio, DUKES Dubai. Seven Tides’ executives will also share details of demand for its high-end collection of Palm Jumeirah apartment developments, with both the Anantara The Palm Dubai Residences and DUKES Dubai hotel apartments almost sold out. “We are now really seeing the building begin to develop its unique personality, and this is a milestone moment for Seven Tides as we can begin to count down to handover at the end of the year,” said Abdulla bin Sulayem, CEO, Seven Tides. The five-star DUKES Dubai marks the first international property for the DUKES Collections brand, the flagship DUKES London has long been a popular destination for GCC travelers. DUKES Dubai will add a distinctly English flavour to the city’s current premium hospitality offering with 279 hotel rooms and 227 hotel-managed studios and one-bedroom apartments. According to the latest progress report, the project, which is centrally located on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah, is now more than 83% complete and on schedule for a Q4 2016 handover. DEWA and MPOWER services will be connected at the beginning of September with all excavations, shoring, piling and structural works completed, and HVAC, electric, plumbing and fire & safety works 80% complete. In addition, 90 per cent of block, drywall and cladding works have been finished with 60 per cent of the residence’ balconies completed and overall general finishing works at the halfway mark, and 50 per cent complete.

The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City opens

Westin Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, has soft launched The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City. The hotel is the second Westin hotel to open in Dubai and the largest Westin hotel across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Carlson Rezidor expands in UAE with 3 hotels

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the signing of three new properties in the UAE. The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront will open its doors during Q1-2017, followed by the Park Inn by Radisson Resort Ras Al Khaimah Marjan Island in Q2-2017, while the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Canal View will then welcome guests from Q1-2018. The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront is located within Business Bay known as Dubai Water Canal, the new business district of Dubai. The property will comprise 432 rooms including designer suites. R Hotels inks deal with Fourzone Middle East

R Hotels named Fourzone Middle East as its interior fit-out contractor for its new four-star resort and spa in Palm Jumeirah. The 253-key property, which will be the first holistic health and wellness resort in the region, is expected to open doors in April 2017. The fit-out deal was signed by Samir Arora, the property’s pre-opening General Manager, and Ajish Nambiar, Marketing Director, Fourzone Middle East. Fourzone Middle East is tasked to provide the complete interior fit-out solutions for the project – from production and sourcing of furniture and soft furnishings, and carrying out finishing works.

Nakheel and RIU to develop resort at Deira Islands

Nakheel and Spanish hospitality group RIU Hotels & Resorts (RIU) have commenced the development of their AED900 million, 800-room joint venture resort and waterpark at Dubai’s Deira Islands. The partners have appointed international consultants Dar Al Handasah to oversee design, engineering and construction supervision of resort — the first all-inclusive 4-star concept in Dubai and RIU’s first property in the GCC.  Nakheel and RIU signed their joint venture agreement in Palma, Mallorca, in February this year.  Set on a 3.4 million square foot plot at Deira Islands, the sprawling resort – one of the biggest in Dubai in terms of rooms – will boast four swimming pools, a kids’ club, spa and fitness centre. Dining facilities include an all-day restaurant, a speciality restaurant, four beach eateries and an evening dining area with a stage for live shows and entertainment. A construction tender is expected to be released by the end of 2016, with anticipated completion in Q3 2019. There will also be a waterpark occupying 10 per cent of the overall area. The new resort represents a significant step forward in creating a new range of affordable, family resort-style hotel accommodation in line with the Government of Dubai’s tourism vision for 2021.

414-room Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba to open by year end

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced its further expansion in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the signing of a new Sheraton in the holy city of Makkah. Owned by Altayyar Travel Group Holding Company, Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba is scheduled to open by the end of the year.  The hotel is located close to the new expansion of the mosque and will provide guests with special access and views of the holy Haram.  Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba will feature 414 rooms and branded service apartments, all outfitted with the Sheraton brand’s signature amenities and services, including its premium sleep experience. The hotel will also offer four dining experiences, as well as ample meeting and events space. Altayyar Travel Group has recently taken a strategic direction to integrate and expand its business into the hospitality sector, and to build a solid portfolio complementing its current business of travel-related services and e-commerce. Starwood operates more than 50 hotels and resorts across the Middle East under eight of the company’s 10 distinct lifestyle brands, including: The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, Sheraton, Westin, W, Le Méridien, Four Points by Sheraton and Aloft.  The company is on track to operate 100 hotels in the region by 2020.
