The Department of Tourism Development in Ajman (DTC) is organising a series of projects, initiatives and workshops throughout the month of February as part of UAE Innovates 2024, the world’s largest national event that celebrates innovation and innovators. H.E. Mahmoud Khalil Al Hashemi, Director General of Ajman Tourism Development Department, commented: The UAE Innovation Month is a prominent platform to support the UAE’s efforts to enhance the innovation environment and motivate DLD’s employees, strategic partners and the local community to achieve more.”
He added: “Ajman Tourism is keen to launch many initiatives and events aimed at creating new innovative practices that contribute to promoting a culture of innovation and developing entrepreneurial thought, thus contributing to consolidating the UAE’s position as a regional and global center for knowledge-based development and innovation, attracting more talents and building human resources.”
The list of projects, workshops and initiatives organized by the Department of Tourism Development in Ajman this year includes the Innovation Platform in Ajman Marina, where a pioneering electronic system for internal and external auditing and monitoring of institutional performance will be presented, in addition to a tourism digital data map to display hotel and tourism establishments with the aim of improving the quality of life of customers and enhancing the level of services for visitors. The emirate’s tourism promotional stories will also be presented in a creative way using modern technology and artificial intelligence to be in line with tourist preferences.
The Department will also present the innovative sustainability workshop for people of determination “Let’s Transform It”, which highlights an innovative way to convert used papers into accessories presented by a group of students of determination in cooperation with the Ministry of Community and will be held on February 10 from 4 to 6 pm at the Fairmont Ajman Hotel, and the Creative Art Carpet Workshop hosted by Bahraini artist Hamad Hardan who created a new way of drawing on carpets at the Ajman Museum on February 9 from 5 to 7 pm.
The activities also include a creative workshop in stone painting that aims to optimize the use of the emirate’s natural resources. The workshop will be held at Masfoot Museum on February 19 from 4 to 6 pm, and the Tourism Innovation Retreat will be held in Al Zorah with the participation of the department’s employees to discuss the future of innovation in the tourism sector and scenario design, in addition to many creative interactive workshops in Ajman Marina on 10-11-17-18-24-25 February from 5 to 8 pm and includes a special workshop to teach an innovative way to draw on sand and grains of rice.
The Department of Tourism Development is also launching the Ajman Tourism Innovation Award in February, which is aimed at university students and includes the selection of the best innovative student project to solve the special challenges in the tourism sector in Ajman, and the results of the award will be announced in June.
These initiatives embody the emirate’s commitment to developing a sustainable and attractive environment, with a focus on encouraging active participation by the local community and partners. It reflects the commitment of the Department of Tourism Development in Ajman to strengthen its position as an innovative and sustainable tourism destination.
