Al Zorah, the 5.4 million sqm luxury and lifestyle destination in Ajman, is ramping up its tourism appeal with the launch of ‘Kayak Tours’ through its natural mangroves and lagoons this September. Offering visitors the opportunity to explore one of the region’s most prized natural mangroves, which has been officially declared as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention, the Kayak Tours will be conducted by ‘Quest for Adventure,’ an adventure sports company. Open to the public including students through a guided schools programme, the Kayak Tours are expected to catalyse the tourism scene and further establish Al Zorah as a must-visit tourist and lifestyle destination. Imad Dana, Chief Executive Officer of Al Zorah Development Company, said, “Al Zorah is a luxury destination in the Middle East built around an undisturbed ecosystem underlined by rich biodiversity. The Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah’s first waterfront hospitality project opens its doors to the world this week, making it the fifth five-star hotel in the emirate. Operated by Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, the 113-key Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah, designed by famous Italian architect Pierro Lissoni, is a luxury eco-destination set on white-sand beaches, and in close proximity to azure lagoons and lush mangroves. The resort is located beside 247 acres (one million square metres) of rich ecological wetland around which Al Zorah is centred and offers a 18-hole Nicklaus Design championship golf course, motorised and non-motorised watersports which include among others jet skiing, banana boat rides, boat and fishing trips, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing; amongst several other amenities. Covering an area of 5.43 million square metres, Al Zorah is a mixed-use coastal development situated on 1.6 km stretch of a beachfront. Owned by Al Zorah Development Co., a joint venture between Solidere International Limited and the Government of Ajman, the project combines intricate master planning with the natural environment to create a distinctive luxury destination that will attract visitors and residents from across the region, if not the world. Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman announced its membership in United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the largest corporate social responsibility initiative in the world. To commence its membership, the hotel associates gathered for an orientation conducted by Ayla Bajwa and Hidaya Mansoor Alfalasi, United Nations Global Compact local network representatives in the UAE. The session provided an overview of the ten fundamental principles of the initiative, which are in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment, and Anti-Corruption, as well as a presentation on The Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Iftikhar Hamdani, General Manager, Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman enthused: “We are honoured to be part of the UN Global Compact! Our management has always ensured the welfare of our work force and has been actively involved in various sustainable initiatives and charitable projects over the years. Through our membership, we seek to enrich our current business practices, and improve our existing CSR programmes. We will strive to become responsible role models in our field and in the community, and ultimately inspire our industry peers to do their share for a socially responsible global economy.” The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary initiative to promote sustainable development and good corporate citizenship. The initiative was launched in the UAE in May 2015. Established in 2002, the UN Global Compact now has thousands of participating businesses and stakeholders from over 160 countries.

As part of its sustainability efforts, Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman has underlined its commitment to ‘Soap for Hope’ and ‘Your Can for Tree’ campaigns. Pioneered by Sealed Air, the hotel has been a part of the ‘Soap for Hope’ project for more than two years. While giving out boxes of used soap for recycling, Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman pledged to continue its participation not only to save the environment, but also to help less privileged communities supported by the project. The property also took part in the ‘Your Can for Tree’ initiative organised by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), which aims to raise funds by collecting and selling used aluminium cans to fund tree-planting activities across the UAE.

The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has wrapped up a successful roadshow in Europe held from May 16 to 20, returning with encouraging feedback from the European tourism and travel market. More than 500 representatives from leading travel and tourism companies attended the UAE Destination presentations held in the cities of Prague in Czech Republic, followed by Warsaw in Poland and concluded in Budapest, Hungary. The roadshow focused on the UAE as a destination and promoted the emirate of Ajman as a unique destination offering a variety of activities, events, attractions and accommodations to leisure and business travelers. During their first stop in Prague, the delegation was welcomed by UAE Ambassador to Czech Republic H.E. Mohamed Hamad Al Shamsi who praised Ajman Tourism for spearheading such promotional tours in major capitals and cities in Europe to promote the UAE.
