Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia, have officially commenced a strategic partnership that significantly expands the networks, lounges and loyalty programs of both airlines, bringing substantial benefits and new destinations to travellers. Announced in May 2022, the partnership opens seamless travel to over 150 destinations across the extensive Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia networks, creating a new gateway of seamless travel between Australia, the Middle-East, Europe and Africa, including to popular destinations such as London, Paris, Rome and Athens. Flights can already be booked on each airline’s websites, for travel effective 12 September 2022. Members of Privilege Club will be able to earn Avios and QPoints on flights operated by Virgin Australia, and Velocity Frequent Flyer members can now earn Velocity Points and Status Credits for flights operated by Qatar Airways. Reward seats are also now available to book on eligible services operated by both airlines. From 12 September, eligible members of both loyalty programs will also receive additional tier benefits, including priority check-in, priority boarding, and lounge access irrespective of their class of travel. IndiGo announced Ras Al-Khaimah as its 100th destination in 6E network. The airline will commence new direct flights between Mumbai and Ras Al-Khaimah, effective September 22, 2022. Ras Al-Khaimah was also named as Gulf Tourism Capital for the year 2020 and 2021 by Gulf Cooperation Council. Turkish Airlines, flying to more countries than any other airline, plans to increase flight frequencies to Istanbul from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The airline is reinforcing connectivity in response to growing customer demand with more travel confidence and the easing of international travel protocols. The added flights will offer customers with more flexibility. Currently, Turkish Airlines has three daily flights from Dubai to the Istanbul Airport which will increase to four daily flights starting from October 2022 together with three weekly flights to the Sabiha Gokcen Airport operated by Anadolujet. Flight TK765 will depart from Dubai (DXB) at 16:00, and flight TK764 will depart from Istanbul at 08:15. The airline’s daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Istanbul Airport will increase to weekly ten flights starting from October 2022. Flight TK867 will depart from Abu Dhabi at 07:55 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday. Flight TK866 will depart from Istanbul at 01:20 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday. Flag carrier airline will also relaunch Sharjah flights on the 3rd of October 2022 with three weekly flights. Currently Anadolujet flies to Sharjah from Sabiha Gokcen Airport with four weekly flights. Flight TK755 will depart from Sharjah Airport at 07:40 to Istanbul Airport on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays while flight TK754 will depart from Istanbul Airport to Sharjah at 01:15 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. With these added frequencies, the total flight number from UAE increases to 48 weekly flights, allowing greater access and a more seamless travel experience for the passengers. Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) recently celebrated the 55th anniversary of its first flights between the Kingdom and Geneva, Switzerland; Frankfurt, Germany; and London, the United Kingdom. Emirates announced plans to debut its newly retrofitted A380s featuring its latest Premium Economy cabins to five new cities from December – New York JFK, San Francisco, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore. The airline will also add more Premium Economy seats on services to London Heathrow and Sydney, as its newly enhanced aircraft sporting refreshed cabins roll into scheduled service. The airline aims to offer customers more opportunities to experience its highly acclaimed Premium Economy product, and its latest deployment plans will also see 85 A380s back in the sky by December, well-timed to serve the year-end travel demand. Emirates’ enhanced A380s with Premium Economy to New York JFK, San Francisco, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore will operate as follows: To New York JFK, Emirates will operate with its newly retrofitted A380 on EK203 and EK 204, starting from 1 December.
