Sharjah Summer campaign returns with unique experiences

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has announced the return of the Sharjah Summer campaign, which will offer an integrated package of distinguished experiences designed to enhance Sharjah’s position as an exceptional and competitive family, cultural, environmental, historical and heritage tourism destination. The campaign, which runs from July 15 to the end of August, is aligned with the Authority’s commitment to launch leading initiatives and create diverse and integrated tourism experiences that live up to the expectations of all tourists and visitors to Sharjah. The much-awaited spectacular Sharjah Summer campaign is held yearly to showcase Sharjah’s famous tourist attractions, new hotels, destinations, and unique projects, as well as inject new energy into local tourism and enhance confidence in the emirate as a premier destination of choice for families. The Sharjah Summer 2021 campaign features a range of exclusive offers, including especially designed packages for families and hotel promotions, to provide tourists coming to the emirate with unforgettable experiences. The campaign also seeks to support and boost domestic tourism this year amid the current circumstances. In addition, SCTDA is organizing a competition for its followers on its Instagram account (@visit_shj) to achieve wider coverage of the summer campaign in cooperation with numerous social media influencers. The competition is also geared towards informing SCTDA’s digital platform followers across various age groups about the exciting adventures, fun experiences, exclusive offers and family activities that are available in Sharjah’s distinct and diverse tourist destinations and hotels. Qatar Airways to resume daily flights to Sharjah from 1st July

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce that it will resume services to Sharjah, UAE starting 1 July 2021 with a daily flight. The Sharjah services will be operated by the airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner featuring 22 seats in First Class and 232 seats in Economy Class. The resumption of services will enable passengers flying from and to Sharjah to benefit from the airline’s extensive international network in Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas, which currently stands at over 130 destinations with plans to increase to more than 1,200 weekly flights to over 140 destinations by the end of July. Sharjah will be an alternative gateway for passengers to and from the other cities especially Dubai in the UAE. Qatar airways flight QR1036, will depart from Hamad International Airport at 14:35, arriving at 16:45 to Sharjah. Qatar Airways daily flight QR1037, will depart from Sharjah at 17:55, and arrive to Doha at 18:05. Oman Air launches new Muscat to Sharjah service

Oman Air has launched its new service between Muscat and Sharjah, UAE, with 3 weekly flights (Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays), operated with Airbus 330 aircraft. Wednesday and Sunday flights from Muscat will depart at 14:25 and arrive in Sharjah at 15:40. Flights from Sharjah will depart at 17:15 and arrive in Muscat at 18:30. The Saturday flight from Muscat will depart at 20:15 and arrive in Sharjah at 21:30, while the flight from Sharjah will depart at 23:00 and arrive in Muscat at 00:15. Oman Air will maintain its comprehensive safety program throughout all elements of the travel journey to ensure that guests fly confidently. Masks are required when guests are on board the aircraft and in Oman’s airports. Distancing is maintained while guests board and exit the aircraft, which are carefully cleaned after each flight and at the end of every day. Cabin crew all wear a full set of personal protective equipment, meal service has been modified to further ensure safety, and a number of other measures have been implemented to ensure that the airline’s guests and crew are safe at all times.

Shurooq opens new family destinations for recreation

Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the opening of two new parks in the Al Rahmaniyah neighbourhood in Sharjah including a female-only park. Managed by Shurooq under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the adjoining Kshisha and Shaghrafa parks feature social, entertainment, sports, and educational facilities, and have a combined built area of 147,700 sqm.  Dedicated to families, the Kshisha Park hosts football and volleyball courts, a library, amphitheater, fitness hub, jogging, and cycling tracks, playgrounds, skateboard range, and specially designed halls for holding workshops. Moreover, it houses an artificial pond with a duck feeding station with clear feeding instructions for visitors. Designed exclusively for females, Shaghrafa Park contains dedicated halls for conducting workshops, and features play areas, a theatre, jogging track, gym, and basket and volleyball courts. Visitors can bring their own food into the parks, although on-site barbeques are prohibited. Shurooq is currently working on adding designated barbeque spots at both parks. Visitors to Kshisha Park can pre-book the football field for AED 250 per hour or AED 450 for two hours at specific time slots, the volleyball court will be charged at AED 150 for an hour and 250 for two hours. At Shaghrafa, visitors will have free access to both the basketball and volleyball courts. Sharjah opens cultural landmark in Khorfakkan

Sharjah recently opened an amphitheatre in the city’s eastern region enclave. Built on a total area of 190,000 sq.ft., this stunning Roman-style attraction is Sharjah’s latest cultural and architectural landmark. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), and several members from local media houses outlets attended the tour to explore the venue and learn about its state-of-the-art facilities. Strategically located on an elevated hillock, at the foot of the Al Sayed mountain, the amphitheatre offers sweeping views of the KhorfakkanCorniche. This open-air semi-circular space boasts an imposing stone façade made up of 235 arches and 295 columns, and can host 3,600 people at a time. As the group continued their tour of the vast amphitheatre site, the SMC Chairman briefed media representatives on its unique characteristics including the world-class technologies that power the venue’s audio-visual and lighting systems to offer guests remarkable cultural experiences including live concerts. He also mentioned that the amphitheatre features state-of the-art cooling systems, which will allow it to host visitors and big events throughout the year.
