Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) in collaboration with Al Qudra Sports Management organized Masfout Mountain Bike Challenge at Masfout mountains on Friday, November 27, 2020 that witnessed a participation of hundreds of cyclists. The Saudi German Hospital in Ajman provided medical care and support to all participants. The race was held as a part of the community races launched by Ajman Tourism to reinforce Ajman’s position as a prominent sports and tourist destination, locally and internationally. Majid Albalushi came in the first place in the Emirati- men category of 28 km, Khuloud Al Dhaheri in Emirati- women, Michael Bang in the open category- men, and Ivana Kolaric in the open category-women. Majid Snake came in the first place in the Emirati- men category of 14 km, Joemar Josol in the open category- men, and Rachel D D Sotto the open category-women along with the distribution of prizes worth AED 12,000. The upcoming community races also include Ajman Time Trial Challenge (10 km) that will take place at Al Zorah on Friday, December 4, 2020 and aims to attract 120 competitors. Further, the second edition of Amina Hospitals Half Marathon- Ajman (21.1 km) will be held on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Al Zorah that is expected to attract around 400 participants. All community races are being hosted by keeping precautionary and safety measures in place that include temperature checks for all participants, wearing masks and gloves during the race, limiting the number of participants and ensuring social distancing.

Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has launched inspection campaign across the emirate’s tourist establishments to ensure compliance with ‘BV’ certification to protect guests, visitors and hospitality employees in Ajman, in line with the strengthening of precautionary measures taken by the UAE. Bureau Veritas (BV) includes a comprehensive checklist to confirm compliance with good hygiene practices, social distancing, and all other recommendations to maintain the highest levels of safety. It also includes field audits to check that the expected protective measures are implemented efficiently. Sultan Ali Al Nuaimi, Director of Licensing & Tourism Standards Department at Ajman Tourism, said, “This campaign comes as part of our efforts to ensure that all tourist establishments are following the best preventive measures as the emirate continues to consolidate its position as a favourable destination for the UAE residents and tourists. Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has conducted comprehensive coronavirus checks for hospitality employees in cooperation with Ajman Medical District and Ajman Crises Management Team, in line with the strengthening of precautionary measures taken by the UAE to ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors. The testing comes as part of the preventive programs of the UAE health authorities to reinforce the precautionary measures to limit the spread of coronavirus and included all employees in Ajman hotel establishments to secure a healthy work environment for all employees. HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General said, “Ajman Tourism Development Department continues to take all the necessary steps to ensure the wellbeing of the hospitality sector employees, and continues to work closely with the concerned authorities to overcome the pandemic and provide a safe environment in the emirate.” Hamad Tarim Al Shamsi, Director of the Ajman Medical Zone, praised the fruitful cooperation between the medical zone and Ajman public and private entities to perform these checks and stressed on the importance of doing such tests to ensure early detection of coronavirus cases. Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) hosted a live parrot show at Al Zorah Natural Reserve in collaboration with the UAE Parrots Group to raise awareness for this hobby which is gaining an increasing interest among Emirati youth and contributes to attracting more visitors to Ajman. The number of participants in the 45 minutes live show reached 11 amateurs from the UAE Parrots Group with 18 Macaw parrots. Parrot breeding is an interesting hobby that brings together many young people who meet to share experience and have a good time. Ibrahim Al-Marai established the group with a team of Emirati youth who have aspirations to raise awareness for this hobby by conducting various activities, events and performances that showcase the capabilities of the trained parrots at several tourist destinations in the UAE. The group includes now many new members in addition to the ladies team that supports achieving the group objectives. Ibrahim explained that he has started this hobby since he was a child and mentioned that he has a group of parrots from different breeds. He created a safe environment to facilitate the parrots’ reproduction and in the process of arranging for new exhibitions, activities and public shows across the country. Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has launched extensive inspection campaign across the emirate’s tourist establishments to ensure compliance with safety guidelines, in line with the strengthening of precautionary measures taken by the UAE and in response to the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The inspection campaign includes daily and continuous visits to the tourist establishments in the Emirate to assure their commitment to following ATDD precautionary guidelines that were recently launched to combat the spread of coronavirus by applying a series of preventive measures related to maintaining the highest hygiene levels, periodic sterilisation, training staff to handle suspected coronavirus cases. The measures also included food serving requirements and salons bookings guidelines. Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has revealed hotel establishments’ precautionary guidelines as part of its continuous efforts to combat COVID-19 and ensure highest safety measures to protect guests, visitors and hospitality workers in Ajman. Renowned for its heritage sites, captivating natural reserves and rich culture, Ajman is preparing to reopen key tourist destinations in the upcoming months. Comprising of 13 pages, the guidelines restrict occupancy with no more than 30 per cent of the capacity of other facilities in the hotel including restaurants, bars and cafes. Starting with mandatory temperature checkups for every person enters the hotel, hotels are to allocate different doors for entry and exit, place visible floor marks for social distancing with a minimum of 2 metres between visitors on queue areas such as reception & concierge, and station hand sanitisers & disinfectants at the entrance and other open facilities. In addition to that, protection equipment such as masks and gloves need to be available in enough quantity for guests and employees. All hotels must allocate isolation rooms at all times that need to be disinfected after every use and have to disinfect and sanitise the premises on a weekly schedule to be shared with ATDD supervisors. The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has announced that the emirate earned AED200 million in tourism revenues from a total of 272,021 visitors in the first half of 2016. Tourism revenues from April to June 2016 reached AED92 million, 11 percent higher compared to the same period in 2015. Total guests for the period are 129,617 from 119,376 in 2015. Three Furnished Apartments are added to the inventory of establishments during the three month period. Occupancy rate for the second quarter is reported at 63 percent for hotels while hotel apartments has 68 percent occupancy rate. Guest nights for the second quarter reached 293,512 with majority of the guests staying at five- and four-star hotels and superior and standard hotel apartments. Local tourists still top the emirate’s guests followed by visitors from Asia and Africa, other Arab countries and GCC nationals. Europeans, Americans and Russian visitors comprised more than 30,000 of the total guests. With the addition of three Furnished Apartments to the inventory, Ajman has 39 establishments with total 3,392 hotel rooms and units and 5,737 beds.
