DWTC’s new free zone to be up early

Dubai World Trade Centre’s One Central has completed the last phase of its commercial and retail development ahead of schedule. With the release of 742,000 square feet of Grade A office space, the commercial and retail component is now complete and brings the total completed commercial and retail space in One Central to 1.72 million square feet, complete with a four-level basement of 4,380 parking spaces. The rapid pace of development of Dubai’s newest free zone business district reaffirms DWTC’s role as a destination developer and is set to further draw international businesses to set up base in Dubai. One Central offers an inter-connected space, seamlessly integrating offices, retail, residences, hotels and a wide variety of F&B offerings to DWTC’s mega-events venue and the wider city through a world-class transportation network. The next phase for development is AccorHotels’ 25-hours Hotel Dubai One Central, scheduled to be completed by June 2020. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts to be integrated into AccorHotels

Mövenpick Holding has announced that it has agreed with its partner Kingdom Holding, to sell Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts to AccorHotels. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has expanded its international presence and today manages more than 20,000 rooms in 84 hotels across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. With 42 additional hotels under development and to open by 2021, the group will further expand its footprint across these continents. With the integration into AccorHotels, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will continue its long history of success and accelerate its further growth. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will have access to a world-renowned customer loyalty programme, benefit from new sales channels and will be able to increase the operational performance of its managed properties. AccorHotels is to pay CHF 560 million for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. It should be completed in the second half of 2018. Mövenpick Holding will continue on its strong growth path with Mövenpick Fine Foods, Mövenpick Wein and Marche International.

Dubai-based Action Hotels’ 4th property to open in Australia in 2018

Action Hotels, developer and asset manager of branded three- and four-star hotels in the Middle East and Australia, has selected Novotel as the brand partner for its new hotel, Novotel Melbourne South Wharf located at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The property marks Action Hotel’s fourth hotel in Australia and the third in Melbourne. It is pegged to open Q1 2018 with 347 rooms, 30 more rooms than originally announced, making it the second largest hotel in Action’s portfolio. Action’s total operating rooms and development pipeline now stands as 3,214 rooms. Action has built a long-term strategic relationship with AccorHotels and the Novotel Melbourne South Wharf is the 13th hotel together – nine are operating – and it is the second Novotel-branded hotel for Action. Novotel is one of AccorHotels’ midscale brands, comprising 480 hotels and resorts across 59 countries. Sheikh Mubarak A. M. Swissôtel enters Bosnian market with 218-room hotel in Sarajevo

Swissôtel, part of AccorHotels, announced that it has entered into a franchise agreement with Al Shiddi International for development of a new 218-room urban resort scheduled to open in early 2018. Situated next to Bosnian Parliament, within the expansive mixed use Sarajevo City Center project, consisting of shopping mall and office tower with 30,000 daily visitors, Swissôtel Sarajevo will enjoy a commanding downtown commercial and residential location, as a new landmark for Sarajevo, close to top attractions and Sarajevo International Airport. The project is being developed and operated by Al Shiddi International from Riyadh, one of the prominent investment companies in Saudi Arabia with an extensive portfolio of investments locally and globally featuring financial services, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, industrial and retail. Interiors are designed by Scott Brownrigg Associates, a leading UK hotel design firm with extensive experience in high end hotel development across Europe, hotel will offer scenic all-glass views of the downtown and mountains, stunning guestrooms featuring spacious bedrooms. Dubai Tourism highlights career opportunities in tourism

Dubai Tourism’s two major initiatives, being carried out by its Dubai College of Tourism  (DCT) –  ‘Medyaf’ (Generous Host) and the ‘UAE Tour Guide Programme’ under its Emiratisation Programme, are aimed at training UAE nationals for a future career in the tourism industry. Dubai Tourism was at this year’s Careers UAE, which ended a few days ago at the Dubai World Trade Centre. At this event, DCT is also promoting the programme of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the summer extravaganza run by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of Dubai Tourism, to recruit young UAE nationals as volunteers during DSS 2017. The participating partners of Dubai Tourism representing various sectors including retail, hospitality and entertainment are: Emaar, Jumeirah Group, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Chalhoub Group, Shangri-La Hotel, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, AccorHotels, Rotana Management Cooperation, Habtoor Grand Resort, Marriott International, JA Resorts and Hotels, IMG Worlds of Adventure, Plazzo Versace, Hilton and InterContinental Hotels Group.
