Oman Air has extended its complimentary COVID-19 coverage until 31 December 2021. The complimentary coverage is for expenses incurred by medical treatment or quarantine related to the COVID-19 virus, and applies to tickets issued for travel after 1 October 2020 until 31 December 2021. The coverage is provided to guests who purchase tickets on omanair.com, through the airline’s Call Centre, at Oman Air’s offices or through travel agents after 1st October 2020, and is part of the airline’s expansive efforts to ensure that guests are safe at all times so they can fly confidently. The coverage now includes Oman resident cardholders (expats) who are required to present medical coverage for their destination and return to Oman, if travel is completed within 31 days. Omani and GCC nationals do not require Covid-19 insurance, as per the directive issued by Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 safety. Oman Air resumed flights to Riyadh KSA, operating 4 flights per week. Flights to Dammam KSA resumed on 28 March 2021, operating 4 flights per week. Oman Air has launched its new service between Muscat and Sharjah, UAE, with 3 weekly flights (Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays), operated with Airbus 330 aircraft. Wednesday and Sunday flights from Muscat will depart at 14:25 and arrive in Sharjah at 15:40. Flights from Sharjah will depart at 17:15 and arrive in Muscat at 18:30. The Saturday flight from Muscat will depart at 20:15 and arrive in Sharjah at 21:30, while the flight from Sharjah will depart at 23:00 and arrive in Muscat at 00:15. Oman Air has resumed flights to Milan. The twice-weekly flights will operate on Sundays and Wednesdays as WY143 from Muscat (MCT) and WY144 from Milan (MXP). Flights from Muscat will depart at 14:35 and arrive in Milan at 19:45. Flights from Milan will depart at 22:05 and arrive in Muscat at 06:40. In its ongoing commitment to provide guests with optimal flexibility, Oman Air has introduced a revised Excess Baggage Policy. By replacing its existing “extra bag” fee with a new weight-based fee, the airline now effectively offers ‘More Bags for Less’ to passengers who require more baggage allowance.  Previously, economy class passengers (excluding Super Saver) were allowed 2 bags and a total of 30 kilograms, and passengers exceeding the 30 kilograms were required to pay a fixed excess bag fee. While the revised policy maintains the 30-kilogram free baggage allowance, it differs in the fact that passengers are no longer limited to 2 bags and excess fees are calculated based on 5-kilogram weight increments. Free baggage allowances have also been revised for Business and First and aim to provide all Oman Air guests with more convenience at a time when travel behaviours are constantly changing to adapt to COVID-19 health and safety measures. Oman Air reminds passengers that the Standard Bag Specifications are total linear dimensions of up to 159 CM and a maximum weight of 32 KG. A Single Baggage exceeding 159 CM in dimensions but within 32 KG of weight is subject to the Oversized Baggage Charge over and above any Excess Weight Baggage charges. Excess baggage is available for advance purchase on omanair.com, as well as through the Oman Air call center, sales offices, and various travel agencies.    

Oman Air is adding flights connecting Muscat with 25 cities including Doha, Dubai and London. Flights are added starting early January 2021. Flights connecting Muscat and Doha will also increase from 2 to 4 per week. Flights connecting Muscat and Dubai will increase from 3 to 5 flights per week. Flights connecting Muscat and London will increase from 2 to 3 flights per week. Additionally, flights will be added to and from Muscat to Mumbai, Cairo, Kochi, Delhi, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Lahore and Chennai. Oman Air is now offering ‘My Space’, an option which gives Economy Class guests the opportunity to ensure that the seat next to them is vacant. The airline’s program makes it simple to travel with even more comfort and convenience. When guests check in online 48 hours before their departure, they can select their seats via an interactive seat map and choose the option to ensure at least one seat next to them is vacant. If the option is not available for guests’ chosen seats, they can select another seat that does have adjacent vacancies. Guests can choose ‘My Space’ until 3 hours before their flight’s departure time.
