SAUDIA and Malaysia Airlines sign codeshare agreement

Malaysia Airlines and SAUDIA have entered into a codeshare agreement, to expand destinations and travel options, offering passengers with seamless connections and airlines’ signature hospitality services in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Malaysia through on the flights of the two carriers, beginning 15 December 2022 subject to regulatory approval. With the partnership, Malaysia Airlines’ “MH” flight code will be added to several SAUDIA’ s flights with departures from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah and Riyadh, as well as flights between the cities to Madinah and Cairo. Meanwhile, SAUDIA’ “SV” flight code will be added to Malaysia Airlines’ flights from Kuala Lumpur to several destinations including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Penang. Travellers from the Far East and the Australian region will enjoy easy access via SAUDIA to the most prominent destinations in the Kingdom, such as Madinah and Al-Ula, to learn about the wonderful natural heritage sites in them, in addition to providing many trips to the Egyptian capital, Cairo. Passengers on board Malaysia Airlines will enjoy smooth connections to the most prominent tourist destinations in Penang which is famous for its location on the UNESCO World Heritage List and its picturesque beaches, in addition to Australian cities, namely Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Ministry of Hajj and Umrah partners with Awqaf and Saudia to compile a 12 minute film, “Journey of a lifetime”

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched an awareness film titled “Journey of a Lifetime”, in a strategic partnership with the General Authority for Awqaf and cooperation of the SAUDIA Group, and several government entities. It comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to educate pilgrims coming from all around the world to perform the rituals of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia. The twelve-minute film has been translated to nine languages and presents a series of educational stories that were filmed over a span of a 7-week period in more than 14 locations. More than 800 actors participated in the making of the film to address topics of high interest to pilgrims, including all of the steps that pilgrims take while performing their rituals. The film will be included in SAUDIA’s inflight entertainment system, where guests can enjoy more than 5,000 hours of movies, TV shows, E-books, shopping and weather reports. Prince Sultan Aviation Academy, a subsidiary of SAUDIA Group, hosted the premiere of “Journey of a Lifetime”, under the patronage of the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, His Excellency Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan al-Rabiah, the Director General of SAUDIA Group, His Excellency Engr. SAUDIA launches an upgraded version of Alfursan loyalty program to enrich guest experiences

SAUDIA has launched a new version of Alfursan loyalty program offering multiple advantages and greater miles value for members. The upgrade is part of a complete transformation of the program which aims to increase the competitiveness of SAUDIA as it seeks to deliver world-class levels of guest experience. This reflects the national carrier’s efforts to improve guests’ travel experience and is part of an ambitious, organisation-wide, transformation the group is currently undergoing. The new edition of Alfursan includes unprecedented benefits for more than 7.5 million members, in addition to motivating more guests to join and enjoy the benefits and rewards of the program through the marketing campaign launched today. Under the slogan “Enjoy More”, Alfursan now partners with several new parties, most notably credit card providers. One of the most important new features of the program is that there is no longer a specific period to redeem miles. Members can use their miles as long as their membership remains active by earning or redeeming them at least once in 24 months regardless of the date of earning. Previously, reward miles expired three years after the date of earning. The new edition also introduces several benefits and policies aimed at increasing the chances of redeeming miles through the introduction of the “Reward” and “Reward Plus” categories. Members can issue reward tickets at a discount of up to 50% of the required miles. For example: the Jeddah-Riyadh-Jeddah flight now requires only 9,000 miles compared to 18,000 miles previously, while the (Riyadh-London-Riyadh) flight now requires 24,000 miles compared to 40,000 miles previously. SAUDIA to resume direct flights between Al Ula and Paris

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA), with the Royal Commission for AlUla and the French Agency for the Development of AlUla (AFALULA) has announced the resumption of a weekly direct flight between Paris CDG airport and AlUla international airport every Sunday from December 4, 2022 to March 12, 2023. The route will allow French travelers to reach AlUla in only 5 hours, with all the comfort provided by the Boeing 787 “Dreamliner”. Announced as part of AlUla’s participating in the World Travel Market, London this week, the route represents an incomparable opportunity for French travelers to immerse themselves in the desert city of AlUla, an ancient oasis located on the incense route with 7000 years of successive civilisations. AlUla is a unique site that was home to some of the most important civilisations of the region – the Dadanites, the Lihyanites, the Nabataeans, and the Romans. Among the must-see, UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra, the southern capital of the Nabatean Empire, are many other archaeological sites dating back to the first millennium BCE. Beyond its rich heritage, AlUla also offers stunning natural landscapes, ochre sandstone canyons and amazing rock formations, basaltic plateaus and golden sands, and a lush green oasis stretching for miles running through the city. SAUDIA and SVTS sign MOU to enable easier online travel planning

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Company for Visa and Travel Solutions (SVTS) for broader collaboration on streamlining travel arrangements. The signing took place during the first day of the World Travel Market in London between Wael Basaffar, SAUDIA’s VP sales, and Abdullah Aljorias, the Chief Business Officer of SVTS. According to the MoU, the two parties will share the use of each other’s office spaces around the world and co-invest in technological solutions for online interconnectivity. The two companies will also explore ways to create, develop, and apply joint services and marketing. In addition, the MoU proposes the possibility of joint operations support bureaus to help run day-to-day activities. There is also a possibility of SAUDIA offering exclusive deals across its international network. Mr. Basafar said that the MoU comes as part of SAUDIA’s commitment to broadening its partnerships with government agencies and the private sector locally and internationally for greater online interconnectivity of services, which supports the Kingdom’s digital transformation agenda and plans to streamline travel arrangements for visitors from across more than 100 destinations in four continents. SAUDIA and Lilium announce plan to bring electric air mobility to Saudi Arabia

SAUDIA and Lilium N.V. developer of the first all-electric vertical take-off and landing (“eVTOL”) jet, at the sixth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the proposed development and operation by SAUDIA of an eVTOL network across Saudi Arabia. The proposed arrangement will make SAUDIA the first airline in the MENA region to purchase 100 Lilium Jets alongside yearly support services. With zero operating emissions, the Lilium Jet will enable sustainable and time-saving travel. With a planned purchase of 100 Lilium Jets, SAUDIA intends to launch a state-of-the-art service with new electric point-to-point connections as well as seamless feeder connections to SAUDIA’s hubs for business class guests. Lilium Jet’s flexible cabin architecture is expected to enable a range of spacious interior configurations that are well suited to the needs of the premium market, which Lilium believes can help drive the early adoption of eVTOL aircraft required to scale. SAUDIA, Nourah University sign MOU to train and hire female talent

SAUDIA Group, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University to collaborate on increasing women’s empowerment efforts. According to the MoU, the two sides will extend joint efforts to increase women’s presence in the commercial aviation industry through multifaceted training programs. The agreement was signed by Dr. Norah Almotrefi, Dean of Applied College, and Mrs. Rania Al-Turki, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at SAUDIA Group. The MoU was signed during the first annual Nourah Partners Exhibition at the university’s conference center, the MoU provides the framework for academic collaboration to launch training programs that cover the activities of SAUDIA Group and its subsidiaries. SAUDIA would also provide volunteering and internship opportunities as well as collaborative training for female students.
