dnata continues to invest in innovative initiatives, equipment, and training to enhance the travel experience of People of Determination, and lead the aviation industry in the special handling of passengers. dnata’s Special Handling unit offers point-to-point assistance to People of Determination, supporting 1.3 million passengers annually throughout their airport journey across DXB’s three terminals. All 1,300 customer-oriented staff at dnata receive comprehensive training prior to joining operations. Training at dnata focuses on customer service, and for employees to understand the unique needs of People of Determination. It also tackles the handling of special equipment such as the three types of adult wheelchairs provided by dnata: a conventional wheelchair; a STAXI wheelchair which incorporates a baggage stowage area below the chair; and a cabin wheelchair used for passengers with special needs who require assistance to and from the aircraft seat, and which is specially designed to fit in the aisle of an aircraft. dnata’s equipment for passengers with special needs are designed for differing levels of needs. Based on the feedback from customers during the AccessAbility Expo in Dubai, the company’s most recent initiatives include the procurement of wheelchairs specially designed for children. To be introduced later this year, these new wheelchairs will offer a better fit for children and make young travellers feel more safe and comfortable. Sheikh Ahmed sets up Dubai Team for Accessible Travel and Tourism

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, has launched Dubai Team for Accessible Travel and Tourism as part of the endeavours to consolidate the emirate’s global standing as round-the-year destination accessible to all. He unveiled the decision during a meeting he organised of senior officials in both government agencies and private organisations dealing with travel and tourism businesses. His Excellency Jamal Al Hai, Deputy CEO at Dubai Airports and Team Leader, expressed deep appreciation for the support provided by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed to the travel and tourism industry in Dubai. He said: “Accessible tourism is an important sector for our national economy as well as helps promote the rights of People of Determination to move around and travel without hassles and obstacles. 2nd edition of Dubai Accessible Tourism International Summit from Nov 10-11, 2020

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, has asserted that the Dubai Accessible Tourism International Summit (DATIS) is a qualitative addition to the international efforts aimed at making the world better and more accessible to tourists from within the ranks of People of Determination. He indicated that the first edition of the summit has managed to attract international officials and experts who highlighted the rights of millions of People of Determination in travel and tourism domains and the challenges they face moving from one city to another. His Highness made the statements on the occasion of the announcement about the second edition of the Summit which will take place from November 10-11, 2020 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The second edition of Summit will have a number of speakers, including decision-makers, senior officials of concerned international organisations and experts from within the ranks of People of Determination, who will discuss very vital issues, including strategies and policies; the importance of global design of cities and how to transform them into cities accessible to all. “We have taken the initiative and taken important steps on the way to achieving our goal of making Dubai one of the most prominent leading tourist destinations preferred by People of Determination.
