Oman Air supports Oman tourism to focus on Russian market

Oman Air has lent its support to the Ministry of Tourism, Oman, by hosting a Omani-themed workshop aimed at promoting the Sultanate’s tourism stakeholders, to celebrate the upcoming Moscow service in October. The event, which was held last week in Moscow, provided an opportunity to introduce Oman Air to the Russian market as well as showcased the unique hospitality and culture of Oman. Over 200 tour operators attended the event, with delegates from Oman Air. In addition to Oman Air, Ministry of Tourism, Oman, was joined by key hotel partners, including Anantara, Kempinski, Shangri-La and Crowne Plaza Muscat. With the launch of the new Moscow service, Oman Air is pleased that travellers from Russia will now be able to take advantage of convenient and seamless global travel to destinations within the extensive network. The new daily service to Moscow Domodedovo Airport will be operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 with an estimated flight time of 5 hours and 55 minutes, offering 12 seats in business class and 150 in economy class. Flight WY181 will depart Muscat daily at 14.55 hours, arriving to Moscow at 19.55 hours (local time). The return flight WY182 will depart Moscow at 00.20 hours, arriving at new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport, at 06.55 hours.

Oman launches new marketing campaign with Holidayfactory.com

In line with the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to become a leading global destination for business and leisure by 2040 under the Oman Tourism Strategy, the Ministry of Oman recently launched a major marketing campaign in partnership with Holidayfactory.com. The campaign highlights Oman’s most attractive and widely visited historical sites, featuring the richness of Oman’s ancient culture and civilization, through a series of marketing and promotional offers, and is seen to boost cultural awareness and enhance tourism development. The tie-up with Holidayfactory.com, a premium-experience travel website based in the UAE, is testament to the Sultanate’s distinct advantage as a destination of choice in the GCC and Arab region, which further strengthens the Ministry’s moves to increase partnership with the private sector to cement Oman’s leading position in the global tourism map. The marketing campaign also includes discounts and packages including tickets and accommodations to encourage travelers to visit and discover Oman.

New private aviation terminal to open at Sharjah International Airport

Gama Support Services, a division of global business aviation services company Gama Aviation, has signed commercial agreements with Sharjah Airport Authority for the development and operation of a private aviation terminal at Sharjah International Airport. Estimated to cost AED 110 million ($30 million) to get built, this purpose-built, integrated business aviation complex would provide ground handling services to business jet owners, business jets, and crew members. The terminal would be spread over an area of 40,000 square metres and will include two aircraft hangars that would be able to accommodate business aircraft up to the size of Airbus ACJ & Boeing BBJ (ACJ aircraft are based on the Airbus A320 family, while BBJ are based on Boeing 737 commercial aircraft frames). Further, it will also be complemented with rest areas, lounges, duty-free shops, passport control and customs. The development will also include an aircraft fueling unit, an aircraft parking apron for business jets and ample car parking adjacent to the terminal.
