Second Global Investment in Aviation Summit opens in Dubai

H.E Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), opened the second edition of the Global Investment in Aviation Summit (GIAS 2020) on January 27, 2020. Organised by GCAA under the theme ‘Enabling global aviation growth through fundraising and key partnerships’, the three-day event got off to a flying start, with the largest ever gathering of aviation ministers and heads of civil aviation authorities from around the world. The event witnessed a remarkable presence of aviation ministers and heads of civil aviation authorities from across the globe, in addition to a stellar galaxy of leading aviation companies, airlines, aircraft operators and investors, as well as a large number of visitors from more than 57 countries. The GIAS 2020 aims to offer a platform for stakeholders to share insights, experiences and expertise, as well as discuss latest aviation trends, with an ultimate goal of laying out strategies and mechanisms that help channel more investment into the aviation sector and consequently boost the growth and sustainability of global economy. In his opening speech, H.E Al Mansouri welcomed participating guests. Over 600 participants from 50 countries attend Global Investment in Aviation Summit in Dubai

H E Eng Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Chairman, General Civil Aviation Authority, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman, Dubai Airports; President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group and H E Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General, General Civil Aviation Authority inaugurated the Global Investment in Aviation Summit (GIAS) on January 28. The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the ceremony to develop and expand cooperation for the establishment of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Global Aviation Award (SMBRGAA). The MoU will serve to stablish and implement joint efforts to promote the development of international civil aviation in a safe and orderly manner. The opening ceremony of the summit included a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions for the senior policy-makers and business leaders to share their knowledge and expertise, and to extrapolate the current economic situation and opportunities. In his welcome speech, Al Mansouri said, “I am honoured to welcome you all on behalf of the United Arab Emirates government at the Global Investment in Aviation Summit, under the theme ‘Linking Developed and Emerging Markets through Attractive Aviation Investment Opportunities’. GIAS to kick off tomorrow in Dubai

The maiden Global Investment in Aviation Summit will be officially opened on January 28, 2019 at Intercontinental Festival City Dubai, organised under the patronage of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). The summit is expected to host more than 500 delegates, 200 global investors, 200 aviation senior-level attendees, 80 speakers from the region’s airlines and aviation organisations. Aviation industry has become one of the most important revenue earners globally as it creates a network of opportunities to connect the world at large. At a recent media briefing, Omar Bin Ghaleb, Deputy Director General, General Civil Aviation Authority stated that this event will be a good networking platform that will connect the leaders in aviation industry. Dubai to host maiden Global Investment in Aviation Summit

The first Global Investment in Aviation Summit (GIAS), set to be held in Dubai, will host over 500 top aviation asset managers, aircraft lessors, investors, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, aviation logistics suppliers and fixed-base operators (FBOs). The delegates from 40 countries will include 20 aviation ambassadors, 10 knowledge partners, 200 aviation officials and 300 investors brainstorming throughout the three days. The conference will take place as the UAE authorities are investing Dh85 billion ($23.16 billion) in airport development and expansion that will see its airports handle develop combined capacity to handle more than 300 million passengers per year. “Our airlines and airports have been ranking consistently as among the best internationally. On compliance level, UAE ranked as a top member state of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. GIAS is UAE’s testament of our commitment to push the nation to be a global pioneer in this field.
