Singapore Airlines and Tourism Malaysia hosts workshop for trade partners in UAE

In a new campaign to boost travel between Asian destinations, Singapore Airlines along with Tourism Malaysia Dubai office organised a special presentation/workshop to update their latest offerings to leading travel trade partners in the UAE. Opening the event Commercial Director GCC/ME region Singapore Airlines Fawad Khan shared the importance of the partnership for the travel trade who could now offer a lot more to their customers by cross selling products from flying on less carbon emission aircraft on Singapore Airlines to discovering one of the most eco friendly destinations in Asia, Malaysia.

Addressing the travel trade, Fawad Khan Commercial Director GCC/ME region Singapore Airlines shared, “thank you for being here we are so delighted to have you with us just before the year ends to value your contributions throughout the year. It has not been an easy time for all of us you will agree passengers coming to you asking for refunds or changes and so many questions asked rightfully by them due to the uncertainty of today’s environment. However, gradually travel is coming back and we are all benefitting by it. Tonight, along with Tourism Malaysia we are so honoured to host this briefing or seminar to get together with you so as to learn from you the requirements for your clients and for us to share updates from our side.”

Director of Tourism Malaysia Dubai Rosnah Mustafah, first introduced herself once again and thanked Fawad for partnering with them. “Welcome everyone or salamat datang from Malaysia to you trade partners, thank you for being here. I’m so pleased that you are joining us today for this networking session to enable us to show our seriousness and readiness in promoting Malaysia as a top of the mind destination in this market. 2022, the year of recovery was a new way of looking at travel and its recovery. After we opened our borders in 2022, several initiatives have been done with partners especially with major airlines, tour operators, travel agents and online travel agents, media to promote Malaysia in this region. We want to show you the diversity of Malaysia and the many offerings for the clients from the region.”

Next on the agenda was a very interesting presentation and the new video for Tourism Malaysia which kept the agents glued to their seats with all the new attractions coming up very soon. Amir Hanif Marketing Manager Tourism Malaysia Dubai shared that the second tallest building in the world is expected to be completed very soon known as Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur. He also mentioned that the Genting Highlands will amaze travellers with its new cable cars and all its state of the art facilities to attract every traveller.

Khan Commercial Director GCC/ME Singapore Airlines, conducted his presentation next with the very latest onboard experiences, its latest offerings for all passengers, the seat configurations, book the cook service for the premium classes, including ways the travel agents can benefit from their NDC programme and requested the agents to register very soon to receive all privileges, discounts, incentives etc. He further reiterated their MICE incentives for travel agents which is a great way to boost the industry. Speaking about the partnership between Tourism Malaysia and Singapore Airlines he mentioned that there are 140 weekly flights to Malaysia with Singapore Airlines and Scoot. Khan reiterated that instead of placing the passengers on the same route to make use of the lesser known destinations in Malaysia which they fly to such as Ipoh, Miri, Kuantan so that the travellers can discover new areas in Malaysia and this will be a good way to promote the destination further and asked the agents to speak with them on how they can make those options a possibility. The event ended with a networking dinner.
