The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced its line-up of events for the 2022/2023 winter season, which are set to create excitement and elevate the destination experience of the UAE capital. Revealed during a TV talk show-style launch event, the up-to-date Abu Dhabi Calendar spans 180 days and features extraordinary concerts by regional and international artists, exhilarating sporting and e-sports action, immersive cultural festivals, live interactive family shows, crowd-pleasing concerts, and unmissable theatre, opera and dance performances. Highly anticipated events in the Abu Dhabi Calendar include the live concerts by Sting, Andrea Bocelli and A. R. St.Petersburg Roadshow concludes in Dubai with great success

St. Petersburg City Tourist Information Bureau and Committee for tourism development of Saint Petersburg organized a very successful roadshow for the travel trade in Dubai. There were 10 partners who conducted B2B sessions with the agents from Dubai and shared information about the destination and their new attractions and programmes especially designed for the GCC clientele.The partners from St.Petersburg included, DMCs, hoteliers, cruise/shipping companies and medical tourism specialists. The roadshow was divided into three main parts, the first was the one on one B2B sessions where the travel trade could spend time and get to know the destination, followed by detailed presentations by the partners. The final part of the event was the grand dinner with authentic St.Petersburg entertainment, which included a ballet performance as well. Ksenia Narvatkina, Chief Specialist of the development department from St. Petersburg City Tourist Information Bureau and Committee for tourism development of Saint Petersburg, shared that they were very excited to showcase the beautiful offerings in their destination and the fact that it was open for visitors from across the globe. The only requirement at present is a negative PCR test 72 hours before flying into the country. She further reiterated that the goal of the event was to promote the potential of St. Petersburg as a world tourist center and to develop partnerships between St. Petersburg tourism enterprises and representatives of tour operators and travel agencies in Dubai. SCCI hosts Sharjah-Indonesia seminar on investment opportunities in Indonesia

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) organized today (Wednesday) a seminar to explore investment opportunities in Indonesia, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Indonesia in the UAE. HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, Dr Kandra Negra, the Indonesian Consul General in Dubai and northern emirates, and Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the SCCI, attended the event, in addition to a host of Emirati and Indonesian businessmen representing mega commercial and industrial companies. The business meeting discussed ways to boost partnership and bilateral cooperation between the business communities of both countries, as well as potential deals and how Indonesian businessmen can take advantage of Sharjah’s distinguished position to promote Indonesian industrial products and expand into the region’s markets. Al Owais stressed that the areas of bilateral cooperation with Indonesia cover many sectors and are rapidly expanding, particularly in light of the recently signed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the substantial volume of trade exchange between the two nations, which in 2021 totaled about $3 billion. He stressed that the gathering represented an opportunity to build on both countries’ solid partnership. For his part, Dr Kandra Negra noted that the Consulate General of Indonesia will continue to play a crucial role in coordinating with the business communities on both sides to support the growth of commercial cooperation between the UAE and Indonesia through Sharjah. He noted that the Consulate General can arrange meetings between SCCI delegations and business owners in Indonesia and facilitate the chamber’s trips to factories and companies in some areas of Indonesia, to enhance trade relations and improve economic cooperation between the business communities of both countries.

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism launches promotional roadshow in the Indian market

Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in Oman conducted a special promotional roadshow in five major source cities in India recently. The roadshow comprised a delegation from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Omani tour operators, hotels, and airlines. These roadshows were held in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. The aim of this five city roadshow was to showcase outstanding experiences in Oman’s unique destinations and promote unique travel experiences for leisure, weddings, conferences and exhibitions. In July alone, the number of visitors, including those from India to Oman reached 36,087, the highest in the last decade. This year, arrivals from India reached 167,678 between January to July. Commenting on the launch of the promotional roadshow, Ms Asma Salim Al Hajri, Deputy Director General for Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: “India is one of the most important source markets for the Sultanate of Oman under our marketing and promotional strategy for all target segments. Saudi tourism authority and union pay international to facilitate Chinese visitor experience

Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) has taken a significant step forward by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading global payment services provider UnionPay International. The agreement will support the development and strengthening of Saudi’s positioning as a tourism destination for UnionPay cardholders from China and around the world as Saudi drives forward its ambition to welcome even more Chinese visitors to the authentic home of Arabia. The MoU aims to enhance Saudi’s comparative advantage in attracting Chinese travellers to the country with STA and UnionPay International promoting Saudi as a UnionPay-friendly destination for the global Chinese community. Dubai tourism sector revenues surpassed AED 19 billion in the first half of 2022 with over 12 million hotel guests

At the recent cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “Our tourism sector’s revenues surpassed AED 19 billion in the first half of 2022. The total number of hotel guests reached 12 million, achieving 42% growth, and we expect a strong tourism performance in this winter season. During the Cabinet meeting, we approved a new law enhancing partnership between government and private sectors… Also, we approved the licensing of the first electric cargo aircraft in the region fully powered with clean energy.” His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid noted, “I chaired the Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. We reviewed the UAE’s competitive and development indicators. Our commercial and development sectors surpassed the pre-pandemic growth. Under the leadership of my brother Mohamed bin Zayed, the UAE has managed to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Our country has become globally prominent for its significant economic growth and development.” His Highness further added: “The number of global indices topped by the UAE rose from 121 to 156 indicators. AMAALA celebrates milestone moment with over SAR 6.62 billion of contracts signed to date

The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), the developer behind ultra-luxury tourism destination AMAALA, has announced tangible progress across the development, with over 300 contracts signed to date, worth in excess of SAR 6.62 billion ($1.7bn). More than 98 percent of the total contract value has been awarded to Saudi firms, highlighting the organizations commitment to strengthening the local economy. These include agreements for the design and build of state-of-the-art accommodation and facilities at the destination for future employees. An additional 6.1 billion riyals of contracts is currently out to tender, across 54 proposals. “Surpassing 300 contract awards underscores the scale of this project and the significant progress being made as we press ahead with activity on the ground to bring our destination to life. At AMAALA, we are working to create a sustainable, purpose- and meaning-driven destination for the discerning traveler, and remain closely aligned with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, as we develop one of the top global tourism destinations of the future.
